Isn't California littered with Prius'? They seem to manage okay. I think the bigger issue is the inconsiderate nature of drivers who seem to take letting you merge in front of them a personal affront.
I remember growing up in Houston, you almost didn't dare use your turn indicator because the car in the intended lane would speed up and block your lane change.

Yeah, I get you there. We have several short ramps in Ohio. That said, my 2019 is the fastest vehicle I’ve owned as far as 0-60 goes, so I guess I’m just used to taking ramps with even slower cars - lol!

The Pedal Commander has really helped a lot with mine. It makes around town driving way more pleasant. I'm still hesitant changing lanes on a fast busy freeway at high speeds knowing the power isn't there.
I will add that putting 93 octane in once the temps rise above 90 degrees has also helped with the responsiveness around town. When it cools off I drop back down to 87.

I've personally never felt that anything was missing with the power curve of the 4Runner.
Maybe it's just the fact that Seattle drivers are slow as shit in general, but I can generally get up and go to overtake people without much of a fuss, and the throttle response 99% of the time reacts as I expect it to. Especially if I compare it to something like my wife's previous Honda HR-V. I would floor it and then three seconds later, it finally reacts - now that is scary when you're trying to drive defensively.

Umm, let me see if I’ve got this straight. The guys lamenting the lethargic acceleration wouldn’t also be fretting over the less than hybrid MGP would they? Pretty sure anybody who wasn’t “gifted” a 4Runner had a pretty good idea of what both performance figures were gonna be before buying, just sayin. BTW how come it seems like just about everyone is in such a “flyin pff” to get somewhere they don’t really have to be? Next time you’re behind the wheel ask yourself “why am I in such a hurry?” Journey not destination is a mind set.

Honestly coming from a fast BMW to the 4Runner, I cant say I've been wanting more power, I feel calmer while driving, don't have that urge to "race around"

Simple....get a Pedal Commander and it feels like a normal Truck instead of like it's swimming through Marshmellow Topping! It really makes it responsive and you feel the power is spunky unlike the ''squishy'' feel the pedal has stock.........just do it!

This is pretty much how I feel about it. I've had relatively quick cars prior to 4Runner ('02 WRX, '05STi, still have '10Legacy 3.6). I find myself a bit calmer/less stressed driving the 4Runner ... w/ the other rides I seem to find myself racing around (95-100 on interstate)/always in the far left lane, watching for the police. W/ the 4Runner, I'll get to the destination 5-10 minutes later, but not so wound up w/ rage (fewer "altercations" w/ other drivers, no flashing red/blue lights behind me on side of the road, etc.). Now I just need make it to retirement and get the F out of Dodge (Denver).

Or they think it needs to be super fast in order to be happy.
I have more enjoyment driving my fj60 than I do my gx470 or tundra.

I have a 2019 SR5 Premium just coming from a 2010 Infiniti FX35. The FX was a blast to drive and could keep up with a lot of 'sport' cars. Now, the 4Runner is a completely different animal and does have decent acceleration for what it is. The bottom line for me is that I went from performance to functionality and couldn't be happier.

I get my '20 ORP in a few days and I'm really looking forward to it... BUT I'm coming from a twin turbo ecoboost F150 and I already know I'm gonna miss that power. I'm most certainly going to get the pedal commander or similar product asap.

Totally agree. I came from a very fast sports sedan and the 4Runner is so powerful yet calm to drive. Not quick, powerful and calm. I just roll into work.

^^this. Put a TRD exhaust on it and you'll think it might actually blow up before it gets to redline.
The thing's a dog, and the 'makes a lot of noise but doesn't go any faster' nature of it's engine at high RPM gives away how old this V6 is. Modern engines have flatter curves. My Tahoe, though much heavier, I have no doubt can get out on the 4Runner at any speed.

Curious how much a 2019 Tahoe costs, and how well it does off road compared to the 4Runner. The vehicles have different strengths and weaknesses because they were designed to appeal to different buyers.
