So I guess you lost about 50HP??

Wonder if you could swap the trd muffler for a Borla muffler and get rid of the drone?

It won't with a Borla S, maybe the Touring version.

If there is no performance gains then I don't understand why Toyota just put an exhaust in to make it louder.

Picture a 3" or so long pipe welded in place of the flanges on the downstream (tailpipe) section of the exhaust. Actual tailpipe exit position unchanged.

Did Borla ever get back to you about purchasing just the Touring version muffler? I have the S-Type and ready to cut it out and weld in something quieter. It sounds great outside but it gets annoying inside the cabin on longer road trips. Also, cant imagine the TRDP exhaust louder than the SType.

To All: Anyone want to trade their TRDP catback for the standard version?

Yes they did get back to me. I asked about options and they sold me the Touring that bolted up to S type tail pipe. They don't recommend or have any options to fix the S except to buy a Touring. There probably is an option but I don't have the means to figure it out or the time to deal with it.

We installed the TRD Pro exhaust on my wife's 2020 TRD Off Road that we recently bought. The exhaust has been on for a bit over 6 weeks. I'd say the sound has mellowed out quite a bit during normal driving and isn't bothersome. However, going up a steady hill and the truck downshifts to 4th results in a significant increase in cabin exhaust volume when the rpms are in the 2500-3500rpm range. I'm shocked that Toyota would put this exhaust on a stock vehicle as it is surprisingly loud under certain load conditions. My tuned BMW M235 with downpipe and performance exhaust isn't as loud on the inside as the TRD Pro exhaust is.

My wife loves it so it stays. If it were my truck, I would have stayed with the stock system. I've learned over the years that it is very difficult to make a V6 sound good unless at full throttle and the rpms over 4,000. I told her need to keep the stock exhaust just in case she changes her mind. I feel bad for the TRD Pro owners that don't have this option.

I think a lot of sound from the TRD exhaust is a resonating/amplifying effect caused by rear luggage area. I do wonder if the sound could be reduced by sound deadening and/or the back loaded with gear.

If Toyota would just listen to my old 84 Alfa GTV then you all can hear the harmony of a singing Italian 6 cylinder at redline then then would sell millions not a 100k+

For TRD Pro owners that have swapped to a stock exhaust, how much of a difference in sound is there?? And how much more exhaust smell is there?? I definitely want less drone, but I also don’t want more smell.
