If you take the driveshaft out and slide the slip-joint apart, make sure you mark both parts first with paint, so it goes back together in exactly the same place. Otherwise you're likely to have vibrations from the driveshaft.

Yes, many times with my previous '13 FJ Cruiser. No hydro lock and no harm other than a grease stripe from flung excess grease. I always pumped grease into the slip joint until it moved. 143k miles and no problems.
