Yet another IFP vs Remote Resi thread (Elka suspension)

Searched and didn't see anything. Does anyone have experience with the Elka IFP (non resi) suspension? I see a few reviews of the remote reservoir stuff that looks good, I can't find anything on their non-remote options though.

Basically, my local shop is pushing the Elka stuff pretty hard and from what I've read it seems good. Prices are as follows:

Elka IFP 2.5 up front and 2.0 rear: $3450 CAD
Elka 2.5 Remote Reservoir (non-adjustable) all around: $4898.25 CAD
Elka 2.5 Remote Reservoir (adjustable) all around: 5339.25 CAD

All prices include taxes, install, alignment. Parts include shocks, Icon rear springs, and diff drop. I'm going for just a level rather than lift so I'd keep stock UCAs.

I've never run an aftermarket suspension at all so I don't really know what to expect. It seems like if I'm going to remotes I might as well get adjustable because the incremental cost isn't much, but I'm struggling to figure out if the extra couple grand is worth it - that buys a lot of tires and gas for further adventures! My primary goal with this kit is ride comfort, we don't do much real wheeling. Mostly fast runs (80-110 km/h) over potholed gravel roads and forestry trails to get to hiking and camping spots. My biggest complaint with the stock suspension that's on there is how easily the truck is unsettled over bumps and how rough it is on washboards.

Anyone have experience with any of these setups that can weigh in?

Hey I’m in the same boat as you. If those quotes are from KRave it looks like the prices have increased a fair amount. I’m hoping to go with non resi and save some cash. But I’m worried as I have a fair amount of weight on the rig.

Elka made my ToyTec Aluma's and I like them.

Well I like them now they replaced the garbage LCA mount with a proper heim joint. Replacement (current production) have been great with the #700lb coils.

If you arent going to do much offroading, just gravel/forest roads, stick with the Elka IFP 2.5 up front and 2.0 rear. More then enough for your use.
My buddy went with the same package, but Eibach 1" rear coils and loves it.

Like mentioned above, these Toytec Aluma coilovers are a rebranded Elka product. Same as what you're eyeing from what I've gathered. I don't do desert racing or anything like that, so I opted for no resi. They've been great.

Price difference (from Toytec) between the resi and non-resi is $330 for front coilovers.

Just put remote resi Elkas on mine, they ride amazing. Way better than my old Radflos. But if you're not taking your truck off road, even the ifp model will be overkill for your needs. It'll ride like butter, but you won't be using them to their full potential.

Krave is going to try and package a bunch of extra unnecessary shit in if you let them (if you can actually get them to return your phone calls). Do your research, and if you go with Krave tell them what YOU want, don't let them dictate to you what THEY want to sell you. The installation is super easy to DIY too, I had all 4 corners on and adjusted the preload in under 2.5 hours.

I ordered mine through Baja North in Kamloops and was out the door, tax in for under $4k for 2.5" with clickers. I talked to Pat at Elka several times, they had me weigh my truck so they could get the valving right, and in the end they ended up doing custom length tubes for me as I run an LT setup out back and had ET in the front prior to taking off the Radflos.

Awesome buying experience and I can't say enough good things about Elka or Baja North.

Next to the old extended travel RadKings...

New Elkas are SLIGHTLY shorter, but notice how much preload I had on the Radflos vs the Elkas for the same ride height. Elkas are also wearing a 13" 750lb spring vs the 14" 700lb King springs on the Radflo
