Much better, been rocking mine for 2.5 years on stock head unit and it sounds so much cleaner and better than the crappy stock paper cone garbage, the stock speakers have the tiniest most pathetic magnets you'll ever see, they're not even physical magnets, they're "electromagnets" sigh

how hard was the install? from the looks of it you went with your own setup? ive heard it's hell trying to tap the OEM harness.

I upgraded all my speakers with focals, best investment I have done so far. I still need to buy an amp, but so far it was worth it without it. I would highly suggest looking into them.

The speaker swap is very straight forward, I used the OEM harness and OEM head unit to power all my door speakers and tweeters

I was eyeing the Focals recently as well. How was the install process? Fairly straight forward and plug and play?

Yup, plug and play. I definitely noticed more clarity from the tweeters

In order to get the proper sound you definitely need an amplifier. 25 watts of channels not going to push the speakers too much but I guess it's fine for some.

The wiring harness was a pain but doable. It was hard just to get the right speakers to the right channels.

Adding a pair of alpine x series to the rear tomorrow.

Yeah, i didnt use the focals specifically made for toyota. But if you order from crutchfield you get the mounts and wiring harness, i installed them within 45 minutes.

I would suggest installing some deadening.

I hadn't seen this thread until today, but have also ordered a set of non-Toyota Focals from Crutchfield. Got my SR5 Friday and placed the order on Saturday. Can't stand the stock speakers so I'm glad to see this. What are you using for bass?

The stock speakers are terrible compared to anything. I dont have any subs on my mine, I really was looking into the OEM sound system sub since it came with the wheel well cut out. But I'm satisfied with just the speakers I installed.

What kind of dash speakers you using? Im using the kicker (Subaru) ones, I was considering changing them.

I replaced the stock speakers with Infinity all the way around the sound improvement was definitely worth it. And the stock head unit had plenty of power to drive the new speakers. I eventually swapped out the head unit too because i really wanted CarPlay. And that was worth it too

I'm going with the Focal Performance PS 165F up front and using their tweeter. Haven't gotten them delivered yet, but should have them this weekend.

I have a 2019 limited with the JBL System and I’m looking at installing The Focal 165AS3 component speakers. They are 3 speakers with the 6.5” woofer in the door, 3” midrange in the dash and I would like to put the tweeter in the A-Pillar. Has anyone went the A-Pillar route?
