4runner speaker upgrade question

I currently have a 19 4runner (Non jbl) and looking to install the OEM audio Plus speaker upgrade only.

Toyota 4Runner | Speaker Upgrades - OEM Audio Plus

my only worry is i have disconnected the rear hatch speaker (by jumping the wire) so i get a little fuller sound in the rear seats.

I will be ordering the OEM Audio plus speaker upgrade minus the Rear hatch speakers, but looking at the specs of the speakers, the rear doors being 2-ohm is my head unit going to be able to handle it, or will it be drawing too much power from the head unit.

I'm going to assume the rear door and rear hatch speakers are wired parallel just like the front. More ohms is fine the headunit. A lower value than what the amp is rated for is when you'll have problems.

Looking at the video on tacotunes makes it seem like you need the rear hatch speakers connected

You can order just the OEM Plus speakers. $649 I just ordered a set. I don't want to upgrade the rest of the system, at this point.

Ok, but thought he was asking specifically about OEM Plus speakers. This is what the kit includes...

Front 1" Soft Dome Tweeters
Front 6" x 9" Carbon Fiber Woofers
Rear 6.5" 2-way Coaxial Carbon Speakers featuring 1" Tweeter
Rear Hatch 6.5" 2-way Coaxial Carbon Speakers (featuring 1" Tweeter)

Iím looking to upgrade my speakers as well. Can someone explain why they chose Oem or Tacotunes rather than a more conventional speaker brand and adapters?

The made-for-Toyota Focals are even cheaper than these options...

For me ease of install. Some of the conventional speakers are not really plug and play. Don't feel like making brackets and such to get them to fit right. Been there done that. I guess I am getting older and just don't want to mess with this stuff.

I haven't had a real system since my Ford expedition with a 12 inch JBL sub and JBL speakers in the doors running about a thousand Watts total.

I'm really feeling the need to put a good system in this truck. Aftermarkets always better but your system is only as good as its weakest link and I want to keep the stock radio which is pretty terrible. LOL Luckily I don't mind paying a shop a couple hundred bucks to do it right if I decide to do it. I'll be sure I share if I do.

I think it's pretty safe to say no one here knows whether or not the factory head unit can safely run a 2-ohm load on the rear channels. The safe bet would be to use the OEM Audio speakers in all 4 rear locations so they safely run the HU at 4 ohms. I know you bypassed when stock to get a fuller sound from the rear, but the rear is running 4 ohms with the factory tailgate speakers bypassed so I would imagine it would sound just as full with 2 sets of 2 ohm speakers wired in series resulting in a 4 ohm load.

I just installed a full Alpine R series system with amplifier.

I was able to keep the stock radio by using a DSP. Such a massive difference in sound it sounds so great!

For those of you who upgraded the speakers, how much better did it sound to you?

I'm not sure of the raw speaker quality between stock + upgraded, but also wonder how the acoustics of the truck frame/materials itself sort of surely limit the impact of quality audio?
