Have a bass knob? Where did you install it?

I'm going to install my Hertz bass knob this weekend. It's become a necessity for road trips.
I'm thinking of just putting it in the center console (amp is under driver's seat) but I wanted to see where others have done it.
Pictures would be great.

Thanks

While I had the center console out, I routed about 3" of wire and the sub controller between the very back of the shift console panel and the console. Let my arm drape over the top of the console in a comfortable position, and wherever my hand fell is where it stuck, which happened to be just off to the side of the seat warmer dials. A little VHB tape, good to go.

Installed by OEM Audio + because they wanted to take video of the process. My only gripe is that the knob dot is not lighted.

You could always get some glow in the dark paint and paint the dot, that would at least help a little bit.

I will be picking up the OEM+ system after things settle after the first of the year. I plan on mounting mine to the bottom edge of the overhang above the USB and 12volt socket. I want it kindnof hidden but easy to reach from both driver and passenger side.

Had the paint in mind but haven't done it.

As far as the passenger reach, they don't need to be touching my settings.

Honest question: Why is a bass knob needed? Any sub will likely be on an amp, correct? Shouldn't all the gain be adjusted from there and any equalizer settings from the headunit/processor there-after?

I picture this similar to all the people who have a manual boost controller on their car (some with a cabin-mounted remote adjustment) and proceed to "crank the boost up" after their car has been tuned. You car has been tuned for a specific amount of air, don't touch it.

Different songs have different bass levels and frequencies. I have a fairly diverse music collection and sometimes there's too much bass and other songs need a boost for my liking. Also going into settings to change everything is a pain when you have a one knob adjustment.

Gotcha, that's fair. EQ settings are usually like three/four menu items deep so that'd be a pain every time.

For me it's because I want to turn the bass down, not up. Car booms quite well without boosting it more. I want to install the bass knob b.c

1. I'm using the stock head unit and it is very limited in eq control - cutting the bass cuts the bass everywhere including the front midbass
2. I have a toddler in the backseat quite often
3. I have a septuagenarian grandmother in the backseat sometimes

@Narat_524 can you share a pic? Did you drill a hole and pull the knob through the bottom?

I was going to install in the dash, but I am glad I didn’t go through the bother. I installed on the seat with Velcro. Always falls to hand in the same spot. I’m constantly fiddling too depending on the song and volume. Have a bass knob? Where did you install it?-img_3687-jpg

I used removable 3M to stick it up in the right most corner between the lower dash and center console to see how I like this position.

I will say, the supplied wire quality from Hertz is absolute garbage. The wire is 10' or so long so if you want to trim it, be careful, you have to combine the red and black together and the yellow and green together.
If you have a soldering gun its best to drop a bit of solder on them so you can have a wire that's actually thick enough for the clips on the amp to grab on to.
Such high quality components, its ridiculous for them to have done such a shitty job with the wire. It's just a telephone wire.

Normally the amp is adjusted with he bass knob set at max (at least that is how I have always done it) so you are never exceeding the limit of the amp by cranking the knob to max. This allows you to adjust it down for times when you don't need as much bass.

For me it is used for when my son is in the car, I can turn the bass and the volume down to allow him to still listen to music but not be too loud or too boomy.
