Replacing my 4th gen

Well, salt has gotten to my 2004 Limited.

Looking at the 5th gen, specifically the Limited or TRD Offroad Premium.

Limited Pros: Ventilated seats, auto headlights, auto climate control, torsen diff.

TRD Offroad Pros: rear locker, 17" wheels

Do both have factory remote start?

Do the ventilated seats work well? Where I live it gets hot and humid, and I have half mile walk to get to my parking spot. Will the ventilated seats stop me from sweating through my pants?

I wish they sold the limited with a locker. Does the Lexus 4Runner have ventilated seats and a rear locker?

I can only comment on my '19 T4R OR Premium...

The standard seats in the Premium are softex whereas the standard OR has material (so says the literature I read). My previous 6 Toyotas (3 of which were T4Rs) had cloth seats so this '19 gives me the same "sweaty butt and back" as you are experiencing. It annoyed me enough that I spent $580 to replace the inner section of both front seat bottoms and backs with a good, thick perforated leather. I ruled out seat covers. The upholstery guy (best in my county) added a thin layer of breathable material underneath, too. So far so good.

I'd have considered the standard ORP had I realized that issue.

I have a '16 Limited. The ventilated seats do help a little but nothing crazy. You just hear the fan in the seat spinning. I live in the Chicago-land area, so our summers can get pretty hot and very humid. I always have it turned on during that time of the year.

I have remote start in my truck and it helps the seat reduce some of the heat (from facing the sun) and the tints do definitely help out.

Replacing my 4th gen

I also just came from 2004 limited into a 5th gen. If the locket is a must for you, then get the TRD ORP. For me, I wanted the same features you listed that comes with the 5th gen limited plus key less entry and push start. Unless your getting a 2020, those features only come on a limited.

I opted for a limited and did the TRD front/rear bumper swap. It’s a limited with TRD option :-)
