2020 8" screen scratch

So another forum has a thread but didn't see anything here. Picked up a 20 last weekend and it had a scratched screen from the dealer. They swapped it for another and didn't think to look close before I left. I got home and put a 5k led light to it and sure as heck its scratched to shit.
*you need bright white light or sunlight and a good angle to notice!
So they are getting me a new deck its just sad they are selling cheap screens. I've had Nav 15+ years and never has a scratch on any of the screens!
For the most part its not noticeable but is annoying after you know its there. Find a bride light/ sun light and look from multiple angles and report back

Take it back again.

You bought a brand new car, should be brand new.

They are replacing it. As mentioned on other forum many are seeing this, just figured this forum has wider audience and wanted to see how common this is

Hard screen protector was one of the first things I though on mine to avoid just this issue down the road. $10 on Amazon is cheap insurance. Definitely get that swapped out for something g that was wiped down with sandpaper.

What size did you go with. Other guy in forum said 7x 4.1/8 but said it was small?

Just took a look at mine - sure enough there’s vertical micro scratches near the middle of the screen.

I probably would have never noticed if someone didn’t mention it to me though. I haven’t cleaned the screen since I bought it and the fingerprints stood out way more. I didn’t even notice the scratches until I got the screen completely clean and looked at the exact right angle with a very bright light.

Honestly, it’s probably more that the screen is soft even though I’m sure it was the detailer and not me that introduced them. I don’t think I’ll be bringing it up to the dealer since it’s pretty much unnoticeable unless you look really hard.

would be nice to use one of the scratch ones to see if it'll work with previous year 4runners before returning it.

Yeah I understand what you’re saying. I actually had trouble seeing the scratches even with the bright light. It was really only when the light hit exactly around 4 o’clock and 10 o’clock that you could see it. When the screen is on, I can’t see the scratches at all. In a real world scenario I don’t think I’ll ever be in a situation where I would see the scratches hence why I’m not too worried about it.

Edit: After seeing this I’m planning on getting the RadTech screen protector tho! I think what we’ve seen/heard so far shows that the screen is super soft. I wouldn’t want to do any damage that would be noticeable in normal situations.

here is what I installed. you can see the exact fit and what product I used from amazon. $10. highly recommended. you can look for another protector without the tiny cutout hole.... but what I have does not affect any functionality. adds may be 5 to 10% Glare (very very minor) and improves response (or at least gives that feeling with smoother slide)

I have searched the web for the correct size for the 4runner screen no luck. First has anyone bought a bigger size and cut it to fit the screen. Also will it hurt the screen putting a screen protector on. Just checking to see if anyone has done it yet. I’m picking up my 2020 AG today.

Looks like the detailing guys hit it last with their “microfiber” after picking up garbage everywhere else.
