Either way, aluminum or steel. Its a space saving/organizer panel that is way overpriced.

I don't really think the aluminum would bend. But some people do mount some heavy things on there (5lb fire extinguisher for example). Maybe something in the cargo area could hit them. Rago also has the shelf (even more expensive) but I would rather have steel supporting heavy things on the shelf than aluminum. The point was that OP was disappointed he didn't get aluminum, I don't think it really makes a difference.
I agree they are overpriced. But at the same time I find them very useful.

Really want the shelf until I saw the price. I’m sorry but it’s almost $400 and I think that’s ridiculous for what it is.

I like mine. Best looking of the panels, sturdy, keeps stuff at hand, but out of the way.
If you need something to make you feel better about your purchase, let it be the thought that you helped a small, veteran owned business keep people employed.

On this site if those panels are the worst you do count yourself ahead. How many people install a $1000 winch they never use? Or a $1000 rack they never put anything on and a $500 ladder they never climb? Or a $2500 bumper....or....

yeah, this is a good point!! My personal favorite "wtf" is the RTT. Totally subjective of course, but this is one that seems a crazy and very expensive "trend" to me that I think many buy without thinking through. As an avid camper for 25 years, to me the CONS far outweigh the PROS of one of these.
Anyway we digressed off topic, but your post is accurate.

I consider a winch like a fire extinguisher. I hope I never need it but so glad I have it if the need arises. (for myself or someone else)

I was anti MSP's from the beginning. The pricing from every brand just seemed to be unreasonable (I still think they are expensive for what they are, but it is what it is).
That changed for me after realizing how much space I could be taking advantage of during a trip a couple of months back. There are also things I want to always have in my Runner that are often removed to make space when real life intervenes.
I got my Rago Racks Yesterday, and installed them immediately. I have more Molle pouches and accessories than any noncombatant needs, so that isnt an expense to worry about.
I can also admit that while I was installing them, the thought of "Why are these Steel" did cross my mind a few times. I quickly pressed on after thinking "I wont care about the weight once they are installed permanently", and I think I am correct.
I am more concerned with how small the 2 bottom mounting Bolts are, I think those could have been closer to the size of the Top bolt (Thickness). After 2 hours, those bolts are the only thing of concern for me.

If you are just after the look, sure, save a pound(?) and go aluminum.
My Rago panels also serve to constrain my cargo shelf side to side. The Rago panels have zero flex in them. This is one of the lighter loads. When I go out shooting I have ammo cans, tables and target stands on the upper shelf.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I’ve never seen the shelf mounted so low. Was this a special mod or something you can just do right out of the box?

I have the shelf mounted high, but the cool thing about the Rago is you can put it at pretty much at any height.
