1up Bike Rack Fit on 5th Gens

I received my 1up rack last week. Awesome rack. Build quality is great and it arrived in less than a week. My only question for you other owners is the fit in the 5th Gen receiver. Even when I tighten up the ball, there is still lateral movement. I get that the ball just friction fits the rack in the receiver, but I assumed it would be a super tight fit. Let me know your experience. Thanks.

I don't have the 1UP but something like this might help. Extra effort for sure. I haven't used this, my Kuat rack locks up like a vault, but know folks that use these.

I can try mine tomorrow and let you know. I haven’t tried it on the 4Runner yet. Do you have the new slotted hitch bar? I’ve got the old style solid one.

Mine doesn’t wobble at all. Don’t know if they changed anything but mine is a few years old.

Mine is 3 years old, double bike rack, doesn’t wobble at all when I tighten the ball. I’ve been thinking about buying their new hitch bar, it’s slotted and will allow for a hitch lock, something the older versions didn’t offer.

I'll echo what others have said. Mine has ZERO movement. I'd suggest getting in contact with 1up and see if you got a defective unit. These things should be pretty stout.

So only the Super Duty has the full 2" receiver which is probably what I want although my bike is way less than 50lbs., so super duty not needed but you can't get the regular one with a dedicated 2 incher. Is that what you guys did? So for any ad-ons, did you just get the regular duty one since there is no hitch receiver involved?

Maybe the one that wasn't completely tight was the dual 1.25/2" receiver? Seems like Super Duty is overkill so it would be interesting to see if the combo 1.25"/2" is just as good as the Super Duty dedicated 2" in the hitch.

For the extra $30 I think the super duty double is worth it. I have that one on my 2019 pro and it has zero play in the receiver. Great rack.

I have the regular duty version, and it locks up very tight on either the 1.25 inch receiver on my VW or the 2 inch receiver on my 4Runner. No wobble at all - very happy with the rack.

So to get it to fit a 1.25" receiver, I guess there is a square piece you have to take off that sits underneath the 1.25" piece? Bolted on I guess?

My 1Up doesn’t move. Used on my Subaru it will slide all thru the receiver and the ball wont engage and tighten.

My 1up is very tight. Are you pushing it too far in? The 4runner's hitch is very short, and the ball may be sticking out of the back, towards the spare tire.

Never a wobble issue on or off-road! As others have stated make sure you didn’t insert too far.
