Thinking of parting ways with my T4R

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I’m hoping to get some opinions on what I should ask for my truck. I need to get a more practical, client friendly vehicle (as much as it pains me) and I have no idea what to ask for a price. I know I won’t get money back for the mods, but also know they add some value to the right buyer. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am located in Northeast Ohio for regional perspective.

I would start by removing anything that is bolted on.
the roof rack, sliders and ladder.
Sell it here on the for sale page.
Find a local buyer so you don't have to ship.

That's plenty client friendly. Though I guess ultimately it depends on who your clients are and your line of work.

I looked at several used ones before I bought my new one and I'd bet that would easily bring over 30k, just by what I seen listed here in Tennessee.

Right now is not a good time to sell. with 20's coming in deals are dropping on new 19's. Mods are useless to dealers and sometimes even deduct. Look at blue book, values are down right now

Local to you I just bought a ‘19 TRDORP for a hair over $36k, shopped the new and used market for a while and I’d target around $30k w/ the non easily removed mods still on if you have all of the service records and it’s clean.

A buddy of mine snagged a certified low 30k mi ‘16 SR5P for right around $30k a month or so ago, it was one of the better deals I came across in my search although no space to negotiate. I drove a few 4-6 year old, 40-50k mi examples in the same trim and the sweet spot for exciting certified deal would have been $27-28k with brakes and tires done, also not red. Either way, probably a bad time to be selling with ‘19s dealing and ‘20s selling easily with the new tech.

I may be interested in some of the mods if you decide to take them off but I’m prob on the low end of the spectrum of what you could get for them since I’m wrangling a new car payment.

Try selling it for what you think is fair and if you don't get what you want, then parting it out might be an option. We're going into winter, so you might have good luck selling it.

See what CarMax would be willing to give you, just to give an idea of the market conditions.
Also, if you're parting with anything, I'd be interested in the Xbull's. Somewhat local, too.

Having just purchased a 2016 sr5 (not premium) with similar mileage and none of the "extras" you've listed, I'm thinking you'd be able to get at least 30K from a dealer if you trade it, or else a few thousand more if selling privately.

Take a gander over at the classified vehicles section, resale on modded 5th gens is not good right now. With everyone seemingly dumping very well built out rigs the used market is tougher. I've seen some very built up rigs go for mid to high 30's. Those asking for "what they have in mods" haven't had much interest. I agree with what others have said, take off all the bolt ons and find stock replacement parts locally.

My advice is to sell your Gobi Rack + Ladder, Sliders, wheels and tires. Suspension is up to you but I don't think you'd get much for a Revtek lift and likely not worth the time taking it off. Also take off the ARB diff breather, the dealer you sell to or next buyer might not know what that is exactly and may see it as a negative.

not a chance.

lucky to get 26k from the dealership if you're not buying another car along with it

private sale you'll be lucky to get 30k. i'd like it for 30 or 29.5 and see what you get.

with 20's out as other posted mentioned used prices are way down. look at classifieds on here and see what people are struggling to sell. take off all bolt-ons, sell them separate, and list the car at 30 or a hair under.

After further review I think you're probably closer to the realistic expectations than I was.

I don't really get it when people say they have to sell their T4R because they got married and have a family now or "for my clients." It's a nice, quiet, comfortable vehicle with a ton of cargo space and head and foot room. The interior is modern and clean, especially with the softex seats. What am I missing?

Thanks for the feedback, but on a relative scale to what I’d be getting it is not quiet and it is not very comfortable. I LOVE the truck and probably won’t end up selling it and just buy an additional car, but the 4Runner is an archaic vehicle not meant to compete in a luxury or semi-luxury segment - and that’s okay. The missing list of features is longer than the actual list of features and I can appreciate anyone’s perspective who feels they need a different vehicle to best suit their needs. If yours works for you in all aspects — AWESOME. That’s not the case for others.

GX is the obvious answer. 4Runner wrapped in Lexus skin and luxury!
