Beat-Sonic Apple CarPlay for Entune?

Haven't seen anyone posting about this adaptor kit for the stock Entune unit.
It appears to be selling out... and I'm wondering if anyone here has this and can provide any info? Pros/cons, etc.

Beat-Sonic Apple Carplay and Android Auto for 2014-2019 Toyota models with Entune 2.0 and Entune 2.5

Just to be clear, this is NOT a mirroring setup... it's fully CarPlay.

I've also seen this video describing the pros/cons of it in comparison w/ the T9 head unit, but want to hear a bit more from others before I drop in on it...

Check out this tread on the last couple pages. Seems like an expensive band aid that is not a great solution.

I JUST missed Apple Carplay...

Ah! Thanks! I had seen that post before, but just hadn't dug deep enough to those replies about the Beat Sonic at the end. Hmm, yeah... I'm still not quite sure what route to take re: getting CarPlay in my ride.

Seems like there are a couple of aftermarket kits like this out there now. I have seen one on ebay and one that had a group buy here but not much info regarding results. Beatsonic looks like the most legit of anyone since they have a website and have other similar products. Not enough info out there for me to drop $ 450.00 yet.

Wink carlinkit VS sonic

To anyone interested a CarPlay retrofit, I spent a lot of time researching the different models, and I would highly recommend the carlinkit version. There is very little information about the differences between the models, so I wanted to share my experiences.

The carlinkit version offers wireless CarPlay and a self contained control unit. It is sold on several different platforms, but I purchased mine from carlinkitcarplay. The seller was very responsive, responding within 24hrs to all of my questions. It’s important to know that for most models you need the full kit, not the cheaper usb dongle.

One of the the biggest things to look for when purchasing one of these units is a seller that understands the differences between the infotainment systems in each model car. While the control box is the same (you just change the dip switches) the cables vary depending on whether you have a non nav control knob, nav control joystick, or later model touch pad. If you include these specifications when you order, it avoids many of the installation problems many people have with these kits.

The carlinkit is about $260 cheaper than the beat sonic version, however, the biggest advantage of this kit over the beat sonic is that it contains all of the functions in one control unit including wireless CarPlay, rather than two boxes connected via HDMI. Instead of using analog rca inputs, the box accepts a direct usb or wireless connection, and avoids a lot of bulk and cable management issues. The kit functions like a stock CarPlay system and retains all of the built in features like the backup camera, microphone, and steering wheel controls, and even on the smaller “non-nav” screen, the resolution looks great, not pixelated or stretched.

Anyway, sorry for the long post, but hopefully this helps 4Runner owners looking for a CarPlay retrofit.

CarLinkcarplay

I was looking at the hyperlink for this product and it appears to only work if you have apple play. Does it work wireless without apple play? Or can you use it with the Beat Sonic solution?

I think you have these options:

1. Directly replace the head unit, there are many aftermarket Android head units in the market. After replacing, you can not only have carplay and AA, but also enjoy more other interesting features, but this product is very expensive, around $300-$500. More importantly, the original car needs to be modified, and the installation process is much more complicated.
2. Buy an extra touchscreen player that doesn't make any changes to the original car.And take into account all the above functions. The price is around $160. So that is my choce.
7 Inch Linux Touch Screen Portable Android Auto Wireless Apple CarPlay Tablet Stereo Multimedia Bluetooth

Wireless Carplay Android Auto Tablet Portable Multimedia Player Car R
– carlinkitbox

Hope my answer helps you.
