Southern Style slimline front bumper on 2020 (with TSS)?

I'm waiting for a response back from Southern Style Offroad directly, but I thought I'd go ahead and ask the community. Does anyone know if the SSO slimline front bumper will fit on the 2020 while preserving the TSS sensors / system? My preference would be this bumper with the bull bar. I'm expecting the answer to be that the bumper will work, but not with the bull bar, but I'm hoping that it can be made to work.

Additionally, my understanding is that most folks put a 10K winch on their 4Runners. Will a 12K winch have any issues fitting with this bumper?

You'll have to go without the bull bar in order for the bumper to be compatible with TSS.

I've heard of other vendors offering compatible bull bars, but they'll have to be very short.

A 12K might not fit honestly. The 10K X20 winch I installed in their bumper on the 4Runner was fine, but there's a hard line to what i think is the AC running up in there. It's kinda tight even with the 10K. If the 12K is dimensionally the same as the 10K, you might be fine. Also, consider a remote solenoid, might give you options.

I also suspect the 2020 w/ TSS will work without the bull bar...it's what I'm looking to do when mine comes in.

Looks like they can make it work! Here's the response I received from them this morning:

"We have changed our hoop's height to accommodate the TSS sensor. When ordering just make sure that you note you have a 2020. "

Now i just have to decide on a winch and whether to do the high-clearance kit.

Sorry for dredging up an old thread, but I'm in the same boat with respect to the winch. Did you go with a 12k and did it fit with the SSO bumper?

Haven't logged in in a while so just saw this. I went with the Warn EVO 10K. I had to make a bracket for the control box for the winch, out of aluminum bar stock, but it all fits and works now. The TSS sensor on the front grill was the fussiest part. Had to bend the wire/connector, thought I'd broken it actually, but it still works.

Just finished installing the SSO Slimline Hybrid front bumper plus Warn Zeon 10S Platinum winch on my 2021 TRD Pro. There are plenty of videos out there so I thought I would share some surprises I had to deal with. Spoiler-nothing major.

Removing and trimming the bumper: There are 3 10mm bolts in the hood latch area, not one. Two are for a bracket that I think supports the TSS sensor. Also you have to disconnect the TSS sensor wire. The top 10mm bolt spot in the fender well has the fender plastic sitting over a round rubber lip that is part of the assembly the bolt screws into. You need to pry the plastic over that lip to remove the plastic bumper. This is in the installation instructions. Probably easier to remove the fog light connections with the bumper partially off the car. On the left side there are two connections. One is the fog light and the other is a more robust connector with a little hinge type mechanism to secure the connection. On the right, the back of the fog lamp is covered by a plastic cover that is open on the bottom. I managed to get my hand in there to disconnect the connection by feel, but easier to have the bumper partially off when you can pop that plastic cover off and disconnect the fog light. The area of the bumper that gets cut out has a wire running across it between the two fog lamps. I zip tied this wire to the bottom of the radiator grill so that it is hidden.

Winch: Good news is that for my Warn winch you do not need a winch control box relocation kit. It is a tight fit but OK. I asked SSO about this and what they told me was correct. Installing the synthetic rope on the winch was the biggest challenge for me. You have to pull the rope through a small hole in the drum using a supplied wire to pull the rope through. This was really hard and I feel like I there must be an easier way. Maybe some wax on the rope? Once through, you put a small metal anchor puck in the loop of the rope and pull it back into the the winch drum. I assume it is supposed to end up flush with the drum surface but I could not get it all the way flush. A real PITA! In the process of doing this I thought my winch might be defective as it would spool in but not out. Once I started the car everything worked properly, so the winch is sensitive to voltage coming from the battery. The winch has an on/off switch which necessitated cutting a hole in the radiator engine cover so you can reach the switch when everything is installed. The instructions have an area marked to cut a hole but this is the wrong area for my winch. The hole for my winch is close to the hood latch area.

Bumper: I have a wheeled cart with a flat rubber platform with a hydraulic lift and this was perfect to position and install the bumper. Very easy to do it by myself. I ended up removing the TRD Pro skid plate to get more space to position the bumper. All the holes lined up well so zero issues bolting the bumper to the car. The biggest pain was bolting on the bumper support brackets as the space is very tight so takes a long time to thread the bolts in and is very awkward. Not sure if you can bolt those on before the bumper install. Probably not, but might be worth checking. For the license plate I drilled and tapped a couple of holes in the center of the bumper.

I did the bumper removal and cut-out one afternoon. The rest of the project took me a full day with the problematic winch rope install. I also managed to damage the connector from the winch control box to the winch motor during the rope install so I had to install a new connector. Yes, I felt like an idiot for that one! The connector is a common trailer hitch type that can be bought and any auto parts store.

Hope this is useful for someone, and I welcome any tips, especially for Warn synthetic winch rope install. I watched some videos on it and it all seemed so easy on the videos.

Edit: I tested the adaptive cruise control and it is working normally so the bull bar is high enough not to interfere with it.
