Tons of inputs here since I posted, really glad I'm not the only one. I'm 50/50 about the posted bulletin from Toyota, especially if they knew about it. Whether or not there will be a fix, only time will tell.

Just to confirm that this is a temperature issue, I'm here in Atlanta for the holidays visiting family. Temperatures was mid 50's and the truck was silent. Maybe I should just stay here...

Thought I read somewhere the 20s are fine. Mine has not done it yet. If so ask the dealer for new shocks/ struts?

Tough to say. My dealership said that it was a known issue and their expectation was resolution for the 20s during assembly, but I think I saw a few posts from people with 20s.
Hopefully I’ll have something to report before NYE. At least for 19s.

Yeah. 3 posts with the ‘20’s doing it as well. So apparently it’s not fixed. My wife’s actually started doing it when it was in the low 50’s, high 40’s here. It only gets worse the colder it gets. It does get a bit better after it’s driven but it doesn’t go away.

I had Icon 2.5 ET coilovers on my previous GX and they didnt make any sounds... while its not super loud or super consistent, its not something you want from a brand new vehicle.

Ok, mine don't make noise; at least none I can hear over the tire noise, wind noise, and the JBL stereo....

The question is: Do the shocks DO what they are supposed to? Mine do.
Is the "noise" a problem, or is it just a characteristic of the Internal Bypass system Fox uses. Raptor guys also hear shock noises. Same type shock; same noises...coincidence? I think not. that doesnt make them "bad".

As long as the shocks DO what they are designed to, turn up your stereo and enjoy the PRO.

I get what your saying. Honestly. But the problem I have with that reasoning is at what point do you draw the line?

Your brakes squeal everytime you use them. Don’t worry. They’re working fine. Doing what there supposed to be doing. Just a characteristic of these new high performance brakes we’re using. Only does it when it’s cold. Do you draw the line then?

I’m actually the guy that posted months ago first about this issue and am a still fighting Toyota about it. I got my pro back in February and lived in South Dakota. It was actually a blizzard the weekend I got it and with neg 0 temps regular within two or so months heard it. It actually started after I was off roading and was fine for the first two months. It’s sounds more like a blown sway bar bushing but you can actually feel the floor board on the passenger side move. It was so bad passengers would hear it on the bumps from ice on the road and ask what’s wrong with the rig. I started a case with Toyota and am pretty sure I drove them crazy calling every week to find out when they would fix it. At the time only three reported cases and all from the same regional tech. I also called Fox and talked to them about it and they were not happy Toyota blames the shock. I’ve had many stories told to me from Toyota techs that it’s hard to believe any they say. They even told me that Toyota rushes the shock out for 19 and used the Tacoma’s settings that clearly isn’t correct for the 4runner and they just need to figure out the tuning.
I’m moved now to Mo and let the dealer here look at it in hopes of fixing it. They tried to order a new shock and Toyota blocked it saying it’s a know issue with the Pro and will not replace them. I’m sorry but my alignment goes off very often and has to be reset, any low speed bump is a hollow thump at any temp so the low temp only makes it worse and noticeable. You can feel it on the floorboards at lower temps. I even considered trading it on a 2020 today while there and of course they want to give a low ball for them as expected. This isn’t my first 4runner or off road truck, but Toyota messed it up and clearly doesn’t care about making it right.

To the guy that said tune the taboo up btw, the thing was so loud you’d blow your speaker. Also at highway speeds the truck was becoming unstable. This isn’t a flaw. It’s a f..k up. You don’t drop that kind of coin to put up with shot Warrenty and customer service.

That said, when you read a post like Crawler 78's issue, that definitely needs to be shoved in Toyota's collective in box until you get some kind of resolution.
My .02 on Crawler's issue sounds like way more than a shock noise, sounds like something that is supposed to move isn't OR something that is not supposed to move is...The 4Runners are notorious for frozen adjusters on the LCA's. I would be surprised if that was connected to the noise, but ya never know.
I suppose I was poking a bit of sarcastic fun at the "automotive hypochondriacs" and you just know they exist.

Now as I said, mine are absolutely silent, no noise, no squeak, no thump, cold temps or otherwise. I have even tried to make mine do it after sitting overnight in 23F degree weather. Nada, nothing. Silent as a tomb, dead nuts stable at 80mph.
FWIW a 2019 Pro with 9342 miles and about 6 months old. One of the first mods I did was to replace the sway bar bushings with urethane ones. Super easy and cheap. I was amazed at how soft the stock rubber Toyota ones were, already significantly deformed at 1800 miles. Anecdotal? yes, coincidence...maybe. Food for thought....?

I think your entrance to the thread was just bad timing. There were a few troll posts before yours and then your addition just seemed to pile on a bit.
That said, you also came with some additional information regarding part of the suspension you’ve replaced. You’ve added value with your insight to the stock bushings, so thank you.
All I know is my courtesy vehicle is a 4R limited and I really don’t like it. Even if it’s currently out of commission, I’m still happy I chose my Pro over a limited.

I fully agree I think mine has something besides the shock issue but Toyota is refusing to let the techs replace anything due to it. I told them the first time I dropped it off I thought the sway bar bushing went out as is reminds me of when they went bad on my past jeeps. Same noise and feels very close to it. They completely torn apart the undercarage in SD and the other day here in MO while having the service the let me come out and look at it with the plate off and check things out. I do want to replace the bushing as well as I know a lot of 4runners had issues with them.

As far as over night I do work 12 hrs rotating shifts and it would be outside in -50 all night and covered in snow. Hell the way home you’d need ear plugs. I asked if I replaced the shocks and it didn’t go away if they would do anything. They said they’d pull them and tell me to send them back for a refund and then keep looking. Wtf Toyota. I’ve never seen the company be such a pain. Normal they have been great with this kind of thing from what I’ve seen

I actually was trying to talk them into replacing the sway bar bushings. Like that link said they look and feel right but with them you never really know. They are one of those small things that seem like it shouldn’t effect as much as they do I’ve always thought. I really Want mine changed to see if it fixes the issue. Its just a let down from Toyota
