My .02 is if I had one of these units I'd replace the sway bar bushings myself, half hour job, if that cured it I'm happy as can be. If not, I buy some Billy 5100's and put them up front, if that cures it, I'm sending the Foxes to Fox, with all my info … fix these and let's quit jacking around!

Maybe I'm naïve but nobody seems to be doing anything!

Is the "noise" a problem, or is it just a characteristic of the Internal Bypass system Fox uses. Raptor guys also hear shock noises. Same type shock; same noises...coincidence? I think not. that doesnt make them "bad".

As long as the shocks DO what they are designed to, turn up your stereo and enjoy the PRO.
^^this.

~3500 miles on my '20 Pro and no shock noise. However, if a shock noise does appear, meh, whatever. It's a truck.

My take on this exactly.

I live in Columbus Ohio. Within the last two weeks we've had a temperature swing from 10 degrees to 60 degrees. Yes, my Pro makes a little noise when it's colder, and is dead silent when warmer. The noise only happens at very low speed, on the tiniest of bumps(meaning a speed bump won't make the noise, but a crack in the pavement will). It's under warranty for 3yrs/36,000 miles. If it gets worse, I'll address it. Until then, I'll chalk it up to being a truck with a specialized off-road suspension. Other than this small issue, I have zero complains of the way the vehicle performs.

But I paid 50k for this Toyota and I expect it to be as quiet as a hand built Maybach. /s

I agree with you and the other guy, functions properly with no ill effects? Stop crying and enjoy life.

I’m having the same problem on my 2019 TRD PRO...when the temperature hits below <32 going over small bumps. The noise seems like it’s under the front right wheel? Is this the fox shocks. Never hear it when the temps are in the 40’s or above. Thanks

That said, when you read a post like Crawler 78's issue, that definitely needs to be shoved in Toyota's collective in box until you get some kind of resolution.
My .02 on Crawler's issue sounds like way more than a shock noise, sounds like something that is supposed to move isn't OR something that is not supposed to move is...The 4Runners are notorious for frozen adjusters on the LCA's. I would be surprised if that was connected to the noise, but ya never know.
I suppose I was poking a bit of sarcastic fun at the "automotive hypochondriacs" and you just know they exist.

Now as I said, mine are absolutely silent, no noise, no squeak, no thump, cold temps or otherwise. I have even tried to make mine do it after sitting overnight in 23F degree weather. Nada, nothing. Silent as a tomb, dead nuts stable at 80mph.
FWIW a 2019 Pro with 9342 miles and about 6 months old. One of the first mods I did was to replace the sway bar bushings with urethane ones. Super easy and cheap. I was amazed at how soft the stock rubber Toyota ones were, already significantly deformed at 1800 miles. Anecdotal? yes, coincidence...maybe. Food for thought....?
No worries AMLOR. My wife’s is also 6 months and a little over 9k. It’s warmed up here a good bit here and it’s still making the noise. From what I’ve gathered from messing with it the last day or two it might not be shocks and from what Crawler said it doesn’t sound like his is either. It’s warmed up a good bit here last couple days and the noise is still consistent. Only coming from right rear. Can somewhat duplicate it by grabbing the roof rack and bouncing that side up and down. Need to get a buddy over to do it while I get under the rig. Gonna check the bushings like you suggested.

You’re really gonna campare it to a maybach ? Wonderful analogy. Kudos to you good sir, you truly are a Shakespearean wordsmith, but to answer your question no I don’t. I do however expect it to make less noise than my 25 year old Silverado.

I truly don’t understand why you and others that have absolutely nothing constructive or informational to contribute, continue to post in this thread. That’s not true. I do understand that it’s just trolls doing what trolls do to get their jollies. Thank god for the ignore feature on here

I think you can split this thread into 3 categories of “contributors”; the people who have a 19 or 20 Pro and have observed the problem in question, 19/20 Pro owners with no problem, and trolls who just want to add snarky comments because we bought a Pro.

I agree people without a19/20 with the Fox shock should only comment if they have an idea that may actually help. As far as people saying have the dealer do.....they simply will not. With Toyota saying it’s the shock they will not replace any single part related to the suspension so it’s like the warranty is shit. Yes mine is better at temps above 50 but you still feel it’s off roading at slow speeds or poor parking lots even. It’s just not as bad. The fact that they will not even try to change any part when it’s the same effects other items cause is concerning to me. They literally said drive it as hard as you can and blow something out so we can fix it. While that may be fun it’s also a pain in the ass to go threw and shouldn’t be how a warranty works

Just an update on my situation:
Toyota is replacing the front shocks. The tech tested everything, including taking the sway bars off and driving to check the sway bar bushings.
They also replaced the front brake pads because the pins were loose in the calipers allowing the pads to rattle.
Parts are on order, so I’ll report back after the new shocks are replaced.

You have a 19 PRO with the Fox shocks? When they tried to order new shocks for mine Toyota blocked them and told the branch they will not replace any of them till they come up with a fix. The service manger said it’s the first time he had seen them do that.

Yes, I do. My dealer is ordering them direct from FOX. The master tech here was pretty well aware of this issue with the FOX shocks, so it has been pretty straightforward up to this point. They said the order wasn’t blocked, but did acknowledge Toyota corporate is closed for the holidays.

Well good luck. I was actually the third report case of it and have even filed a lemon law case with them on it and the dealer here still couldn’t replace them. Not sure how your dealer got authorization to do it but hope it sorts it and maybe they will start fixing the rest of us

Bullshit.
I spent seven years as a parts manager at a dealership, and what you're saying is not even possible to do "under warranty."

Call it what you want. I call it having my shocks replaced under warranty. Also had brake pad replaced under warranty.
Maybe you just weren’t very good at your job ...
