Sounds like a bad actuator. Door lock actuator failures are one of the few commonly found issues with this vehicle.

Thanks, I'll have to look into it. Is this a simple or complex fix? Not much of a gear head myself, but I have friends that are

You've got me there. To clarify, if you push the lock/unlock button twice, does it lock/unlock the rear passenger doors and tailgate? I suppose it's possible the two front doors are on a different fused circuit, but I would have to see a schematic. I suppose it's possible both front actuator motors are bad, but I would check fuses first.

Yes, and the driver door lock with the key from the outside, but it doesn't lock the passenger. I have no idea, but I wouldn't see them trying to lock if a fuse was bad.
