"A" pillar handle
Blacked out roof rack. It was silver.

Front recovery points.
Rear recovery points. Right one required trimming the exhaust (another item on my list. Two birds, one stone).

Here's the hose(s) to inflate/deflate/equalize all 4 tires simultaneously.
Using my garage compressor I took all 4 from 28 to 35 psi in two minutes. This includes rolling the hose out and back in.
It includes a gauge, shutoff valve, and hose connector to the compressor hose or a chuck.

Had to use or cash in my vacation time/pay, so cashed in 3 weeks pay.
Have a short roadtrip next month (1,800 miles) so funds set aside for that.
So bouncing around ideas for something on the 4runner.
Sadly, I'm not hitting trails like I'd hoped. The family doesn't want to go, I have no friends, and the local clubs go on weekends (duh) and I work weekends. So exploring is solo.
The 4runners capabilities aren't wasted though with the rutted, washed out dirt roads we live on (town is 79 sq/mi with 4 paved roads. Population 7,500).
So I've been looking real hard at ditch lights (actually pointed at the dirches). Would be handy on our dark desert street corners because of wild burros and escaped cattle.
Another temptation is an aftermarket front skid plate (easier oil changes and the other skids later).
Or sliders to replace the Nfab nerf/steps that came on the 4runner. A bit more peace of mind to encourage more solo treks.
I think I'm going to order sliders today.
A friend would still be nice. Preferably with safe offroading experience.

Built a crude, but effective, sleeping platform a week or so ago. Tried it out last night.
After settling in from "this isn't what I'm used to" I slept fairly well.
I sleep 5 "nights" a week in the bunk of my 18-wheeler (could be night or day). Two nights are at home either in bed or on the couch.
The platform is a simple sheet of leftover siding that is hinged to fold so the right rear seat can be used. Fold down the seat, fold out the platform, lay down the pad (a better pad would be nice) and roll out the sleeping bag. Getting my fat old body in is the tricky part.
It's rudimentary, but it's a couple steps above reclining the seat and sleeping. It's for stealth camping for a couple of nights on the upcoming roadtrip. Might take a side trip along the way.

Called Avid to check on status. Slider tubes are done, still need the top plates welded on.
Another week or so. Not in any big hurry.

A while back my Wife drove my pickup (68 F100) to work (County jail). The "kids" there (much younger officers) called it "the Old Farm Truck".
Last week she drove the 4runner. The kids oohed & ahhed over it.
I'll have to get my old muscle bike back on the road and get their reaction to it. 1980 Yamaha XS1100le. Bumped from 1100cc to 1200cc and compression ratio from 9.5 to 10.4/1. It moves pretty good for 40 years old.

Picked up my Avid sliders Wednesday. They are above me in the upper bunk of my 18-wheeler until I get home Monday morning.
Remove nerf/steps, test fit, reinstall nerf/steps, degrease, sand, clean, dry, prime & paint.
Goal for Mon/Tue is to get to at least prime. Though rust isn't much of an issue where I live.

Removed the Nfab nerf/steps. Hmmm... the nekkid look isn't bad. But I'm not that concerned with looks.
These sliders are 'substantial'
The test fit is superb!
Comparison specs:
Nfab nerf/steps
14.2 lbs each
Ground to step 15¼"
Ground to bar 17¼"
Body to step 4"

Avid sliders
43.8 lbs right, 45.2 lbs left
Ground to bar 17½" (I'll have to step a little higher)
Body to bar front 3½" (less surface)
Body to bar rear kicker 6½" (it sticks out a little farther than my rear tire).
One side degreased, scuffed washed, rinsed, dried, and primed. I'll do the other one tomorrow, then set them aside until next week when I get back home. Then paint, probably satin black with bedliner on the plate.

Got home last week and put 2 coats of black on. Then they sat for another week curing.
Intended to put on 1 or 2 more coats this last Monday, but it started snowing. Snowed another 2-3 inches yesterday (I live in the desert, with cactus, roadrunners, coyotes and scorpions).
Next Mon & Tue is forecast in the 60°'s. Hopefully another coat or 2 then install the following week.

So many things I've wanted to do to and with the 4runner, but life keeps blocking me.
I set funds aside earmarked for mods, but it always gets diverted to others' (family) wants/needs.
Plus, son(s) have needed it for transportation the last couple of months. I've been back in my 68 F100.
The lack of driving it lately plus the inability of being able to do the work on it that I want is causing an apathy.
Guess I'm just being selfish.
I get home tomorrow (Monday) morning from my usual 3,000 mile commute, hop in Wifes pickup and go get the last load of my youngst sons familys belongings and bring it here. Another 1,000 miles on my day off. They're moving here, very near us.
Next known expense, oldest son (3 sons, and a daughter that identifies as male) asked for for financial help with his wedding next year.
By then I'll need tires. Last time I had money for a 4runner present, Wife needed tires, then the Jeep broke, then downpayment for a car for son...
But life is ok.
