2020 Pro thread, good the bad and the ugly
Saw an Army Green thread, awesome color by the way.
See a 2020 orp thread but no pro thread. Post up your pics, mods, likes, dislikes. At time of posting I think
@ gSwift
has the baddest pro in town! Let's see whatcha got!
Had this one 2weeks now. Still stock.
Likes? It will be modded but being the pro think it looks great right outta the box. Love the 8" screen. Audio will be upgraded eventually but the JBL will hold me over! Oh, love the phone remote start and locate!
Dislike? Remote start and locate app driving score. They claim they do not sell to third party companies but Ford said the same thing and oddly enough, state farm had my info without my permission!

Forgot, many love or hate the trd exhaust! My take? They come from different suppliers!
Had it on my 19, bolt on trd and it was ~30% louder than my 20 pro, not sure if it's tuned different? Different suppliers or what. Just don't know!

Has anyone 'opted out' of the vehicle performance tracking?
I have a sticker on my overhead console that mentions you can simply hit the SOS button and have it turned off...havent gotten around to it yet.

I tried to do this, but when they turned everything off, the red light next to the button came on. The manual said that both of the lights should have been "off", and that the red light indicated a system malfunction. After a lot of time on the phone with Toyota, I just had them turn the system back on. The next morning, when I started the vehicle, a voice said something to the effect that the system had been activated and then the green light came on...

No vehicle is perfect. I love mine for the most part, the good vastly outweighs the bad so I'm not going to list everything I like about it. I'll just say I live in a place that gets long winters and lots of snow, so it's pretty much the perfect daily driver for me. But there are a few things I dislike after a month of ownership.
The remote starter app is kind of shit. It seems to freeze up quite a bit and is slow to respond sometimes.
The brakes squeak more than anything else I've owned. Probably has to due with the cold weather and snow because it goes away have 2-3 times on the brakes.
Interior and exterior lighting is pretty subpar for this price point. My trade in (2015 GMC Sierra) had way better lighting and was 20k cheaper when new.
Cruise control does not work at all when the sensor on the front is dirty or has snow on it. In the winter it's constantly covered by snow so I have barely used it since I got it. I kind of wish I didn't even have these safety features.
The TRD exhaust is pretty loud from 2-3k rpm, not in a good way either. I'm used to it now but it does sound nice in the higher RPMs though I'll give it that, reminds me of a 370z or something.
No heated steering wheel at this price. Might be a small thing to complain about to some of you but when you wake up at 5AM for work and it's -40c, it's a nice feature to have.

Thanks for the compliment
@ ForRun
... Obviously one of the things I hated was the exhaust system, but I took care of that by swapping it out with a forum members non-TRD exhaust. I also hate the Toyota Safety Sense. Not necessarily the function of it, but the big stupid black box in the grill.
I ready wanted a SSO Slimline bumper but I assume with the Safety Sense being in the lower portion of the grill, a bumper with the bull bar will cause that thing to go nuts. I'll be doing some research to see if there's a way to bypass that system.
This is my 3rd 4Runner, and although I kinda hated this one at first, i've grown to love it now that i've done some mods and spent a couple of months with it. Looking forward to more modding

I too came from a 15 gmc sierra, and miss that damned Heated steeringwheel every day here in alberta.. That is one of the biggest reasons why I wont splurge on a TRD Pro. For that price, it should come with all the bells and whistles.. but that's been beat to death in other threads already..

I certainly dont mind it... not the best exhaust Ive ever heard, but certainly not obnoxious. Just a constant rumble when accelerating... as opposed to something with gurgles or backfires etc. (Recently drove a friends X4 M40i and it sounded great, but I assume had active valves etc)

I bought it for my old 19 runner and loved it. Made sure to get it on the 20.
Does it sound like a 70s muscle car, heck no but didn't expect it too. Not sure any V6 will ever sound like an 8, I just think this exhaust is tuned to make a runner sound just right.

All these reviews on the exhaust got me pretty worried to the point where I almost went with an ORP, but decided to go with the TRDP and figured I could always swap out the exhaust... when I drove it home from the dealership I was pretty surprised that I could hardly notice it (from the reviews I figured it was going to be super obvious and disruptive). After putting 2k+ miles on it, it is even less noticeable now and I gotta say I actually like it.
As far as other dislikes go, just like others have said, a heated steering wheel would be super nice and LED lighting inside and out (kind of odd they have LED fog lights but not headlights). Other than that I’m very happy overall with it and plan on keeping it for a very long time.

I came from F87 M2 with performance exhaust and miss my backfire and sweet sweet sound of it.
I also enjoy rumble of my TRD and like it more vs factory one I had on my ‘17 Pro.
I actually barely noticing it now and it’s perfect for it is.

I have been Toyota owner for a long time. I love my Pro. Been thru doing all the mods to my Tacoma years back. I like the way it looks. And sounds. Yes it would be nice if it was faster. Not worried about that. As long it gets me from point A to B and trouble free that is a big plus. Plus already have a very fast car if needs. I bought the Pro because of not going thru modding it cause the way it looks. No big deal on the lighting in the interior. For $40 just buy all new LEDs and replace them which I did. Makes the inside much brighter and nicer. Not to mention the value these thing hold. I traded my 17 Pro and got almost what I paid for it. There are pretty many vehicles out there that you cannot do that because of the value how they drop so bad. Just comparing my 17 and 2020 I think it was worth jumping up with all the extras I picked up. It is hard to find a vehicle that you are not going to like about something on it. The AG will be a vehicle to hold onto for a long time.

You're in luck, as SSO is now offering TSS compatible bull bars on their slimline bumpers:
"We have changed our hoop's height to accommodate the TSS sensor. When ordering just make sure that you note you have a 2020. "
I'm very happy with the fit, finish, and function of the SSO slimline that I put on my '18 👍👍
If you decide to go with an SSO bumper, you can use this coupon code to save $100 off SSO purchases of $598 or more:
