Light loss?

How much light output do you lose by putting the light bar behind the grill vs. in front of the grill?

I am not sure about the light loss, but I have a KC highlights 32 inch light bar behind the grill and when I use it on backroads, it shoots extremely far. It is like daylight. Never had an issue with visibility from mine behind the grill.

There is some, I would be more concerned about diffusion or beam artifacts but it doesn’t appear to be as severe as you might think. It would vary depending on the grill/setup & placement.

You could easily measure it with an inexpensive Lux Meter.

The lower fogs are Rigid Industries spots with yellow lens covers and the upper lights are Rigid floods with clear lens covers. Neither are street legal. I only use these off road or in low light urban areas. I didn't want these to be noticeable until lit for fear of theft.
To be honest I did not compare the light output outside the Grill opposed to behind the Grill.
I am pleased with the amount of light output through the Grill.
If your concerned about output just add more lights.

My lightbar is behind the grill, and still plenty bright. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
