All this talk of grinding and shoving and sliding it in like butter... I thought this thread was supposed to about transfer cases. Unsubscribed.

So quick question does this TC function the same as my old TJ with an NP 231? Are the sensors simply to indicate that you have hit 4WD/4LO or is this the case that if the sensors fail you don't have 4wd? I know if the sensor failed on my NP231 (it never did) it didnt matter because I felt and knew when I was in 4 HI and 4 LO and rarely had to even use the light to confirm I was in but when I lifted it I did have to adjust the linkage to ensure it didn't pop out when I shifted in. The exploded diagram didn't clear this up and was curious.

As far as I understand it, if the sensors on the TC fail then the ECU will never see that the vehicle is in 4H or 4Lo and won't trigger the diff actuator to engage the front axles. Plus MTS , A-Track and Crawl Control would be disabled without a good 4WD signal. As far as I know...

^^^If the ECU can't see that you're in 4wd, you won't get it because of the ADD front axle.
