So I leased a 2019 pro for 7 months and hated the way it handled on road , I took it offroad on a forest rd and had to get a alignment after one trip, dealer did it for free because it happened within two weeks of owning it. I don't have any experience with kdss, but I was in for my 5000mile service on my pro and took a 2020 Venture for a test drive ( non kdss ) I was sold instantly, It has a spacer lift and 285/70r17 Toyo at2 they had to do a slight trim of front fenders and it drives like a Lexus. It does seem a little under powered compared to the pro though . One other observation while driving the 19 Pro was it felt like I was driving my father in laws jeep that has 37s and doesn't drive straight all over the road . This has nothing to do with it but something else my wife and I noticed is the seats in the 2020 Venture seem way more comfortable then the seats in my 19 pro. For me it was everyday driving comfort, haven't taken her in the dirt yet waiting on my camburg uca and bilstein 6112 front and 5100 rear . That was my experience with a 19 pro.

Thanks for your feedback!

Everyone seems all over the map on this, and I guess that’s to be expected...Everyone has a different opinion and has different needs.

I can either buy stock AG pro for 50k
OR
ORP w kdss, swap tires and wheels, upgrade suspension and 2” lift, upgrade lighting and blackout certain things all for less than a pro.

It is mostly for road use, with weekend outings at times, not sure I stated that earlier. May have to test drive a couple more times...

Unless you have to have the specialty color only available on the Pro, I'd go TRD-Off Road. I will say the Pro rides a bit softer due to springs compared to Off Road, but the trade off is more body roll. We ended up with the former because my wife had to have Army Green. If you are going to leave it stock, get the Pro. If you want to modify, I'd start with cheaper trim first. If you like the look of the Pro, it is easily recreated on all but the Limited trims. I sometimes have to look hard to spot the clones. The only thing I would caution is not to fall into the trap of buying an Off-Road and modding it to look and be like the Pro and end up with just as much money in it as you would have spent on a Pro. The biggest appeal of the Off Road is that it is the best bang for your buck trim if you leave it as is.

Yeah see that is kinda my thinking. I don’t wanna buy an ORP and drive it stock. The Pro? I could see driving it stock..but if I buy the ORP I am going to put 6-10k into it therefore I am already at that same price...and how much “better” is it?

Other people are like “bury me with kdss when I die”

Wow! So is it just the Cement that is in such high demand that they can ask 3k over original MSRP? That blows me away.

I was prepared to buy it for 44k and they turned me down.

Different strokes for different folks. I love the way it handles on road. I have a mild lift and works perfect for my needs! I can see it's limitation if you want to bash through the desert at high speeds though...

Well if you could see yourself driving it stock, then go with the PRO. I hear you can get the pro with dual zone air condition so that would be a plus for a spouse.

I just didn't like the poor ground clearance of the 4Runners in general (mine was 8" at the front skid and the Pro I hear is 9.0, Toyota lies about it being 9.5) so I went with the TRDORP and put a lift on it. My "3 inch lift" gave me 4" additional at the skid so now I have 12.5", the 1/2 for the bigger size tires. For a stock 4Runner, you may want to invest in more skids though since the ground clearance is poor unless you only drive on mild 4x4 roads. I also get a bit more articulation than a Pro because of my KDSS so that was a factor in my purchase decision.

And if you want a cheap but doable lift, I think you can get a Bilstein setup at about 2.5" front and 1.5"back for less than $1500 if you don't upgrade your UCA's. That's installed. That's what a buddy of mine did and that included installation. Then if you had the TRD Pro wheel and tire option ($1700 option but negotiable as anything else is) on the TRDORP you wouldn't even need to swap wheels. You could drive the Nitto's that come with it and then replace with 275/75R17 when they wear out.

Cement in poll after poll has shown to be the favorite special edition color. If someone offered me 46k for my Cement right now, I'd probably be persuaded to say yes.

I seriously considered trying to get a cement wrap. It’s such a great “color”.

I have an 18orp non kdss and absolutely love it tested a pro and orp w/ kdss settled with my choice because I wanted to personalize it with bp51 suspension pro roof rack Baja lights and falken wildpeaks with fifteen 52 rims now my truck looks fing amazing
All the Toyota 4Runner will get you wherever but more street driving equals kdss more off-road the the pro at the time my choice very little difference saved money and made my truck mine
But all this will change in a few years when the new 4Runner comes out then we all have to start over
Mike

Why did you go with non kdss?

Seems a lot of people outside this forum who have runners say to stay away from kdss

Anyway, it looks like it I don’t want to truly mod the truck, Pro is the way to go...then in a few years if the 6th gen is sweet I can trade in and probably be in a good $ position

The biggest reason was less to go wrong in the future and modification are easier plus I saved a few bucks I have zero regrets

The used Pro prices are compelling enough to get a new Pro since they hold their value so well. I'd also argue the used prices are probably inflated by the fact that the MRSPs have increased significantly since the Pro's debut in 2015. What did the 2015 MSRP for, like 43K? 2020s MSRP for almost 51K.
