Do you think he was talking about previous GTR bulbs and not the 2.0 in that vid?
I swear I’m about to drive myself crazy trying to find some good lighting for my 2020 4R. It doesn’t have to be as great as the OEM LED/HID in my past cars, I just need something that’s good.

Here what I found when I was looking at this...
- Known fit is the Morimoto 2 stroke. Base depth dimension from the website is 36mm
- GTR Ultra base depth is 35.6mm (I cant find a dimension on the Ultra2)
I am making a slight assumption that since the cable on the Morimoto comes straight out the back and needs to be bend that a .6mm cant make that much of a difference between the two dimensions.
As for the guy in the video. No idea.
My lights arrive on 12/27. I can give you a better idea then

The GTR Lighting Ultra 2 for sure will fit in our 4Runner. To make installation easier, I highly recommend you swap the Ultra 2 o-rings with OEM halogen o-rings. The transformer and cables all squeeze into the space and the dust cap fits over everything.

Bit the bullet and ordered some of these. Fingers crossed that they are pretty good and won’t fail anytime soon. Also got some OEM LED fogs being delivered today and just need to figure out high beams next. Looking forward to seeing reviews on these from you all in the mean time!
Almost bought the XB headlights but what happens in 5 years and 1 day when they burn out (my luck)?

Well this is a bummer. Went to install the GTR ultra 2 and I guess 4runner lights might be sourced from other companies?
I can set the bulb into the socket but due to part of the housing, it can not twist to seat as the housing keeps the bulb too far away. I'm sure it's within or under a mm. I tried the o-ring that came with it, tried the OEM halogen gasket and tried no gasket at all. I took pics the best I could given the bad location. When the bulb is seated I tried marker and pencil to show where the bulb hits into the projector housing. Couldn't get pencil spot on, only close.
You can see where the bulb got scraped by the housing and where the housing got scraped by the bulb. I could probably grind the bulb housing down but at hundred bucks a bulb, want something in writing from GTR they will take them back if it don't work out!
Edit, tired both bulbs on both sides with same result.

Not gonna lie...Im a little worried now too cause my luck usually falls on the wrong side of good.
Thing is though there are two other posters that say they fit with no issue. Maybe there was a change in headlight design at some point that is so minimal or so out of sight that no one noticed.

So I had to grind just under 1/8" off 2 tabs of the bulb housing. They are in and working but won't know how they are until night time
Heres a daytime pic with H9 bulb on the drivers side

I'll finally have free time and good weather to install them tomorrow. I'm hoping it's issue free. I take my 4Runner Monday to get suspension and tires installed. If It gives me trouble I'll let the dealership play with them. The output pictures I've seen so far people have shared in facebook groups look good.

Mine is a 20, not sure if they use different headlights as not much has changed.
If you want to see these compared to several other bulbs and the XB headlights look here
Headlight before/after comparisons
Heres a night shot of the GTRs

GTR Lighting Ultra 2.0 H11 Reviews

Quick update -
I had a chance to drive it tonight for about 2 hours and these blow the morimoto 2stroke 2.0 away. The cutoff is sharp and the light is very bright. Driving along other cars the Ultra 2 is probably brighter than 95% of the other cars on the road. This is in NYC traffic so there were hundreds of cars to compare.

Looks like the HID might might throw a wider beam but isnt necessarily any brighter. The H9 seem to be comparable but clearly a different color temp. Great comparison post BTW!

Well, that was short lived, picked up GF at airport, here I am loving the lights and she says the "white" hurts her eyes. Didn't work out well when I said don't look at them.
Posting here to see if anyone wants them 50% off as I doubt Headlight revolution will take them back. See post above where grinder the bulb to fit the projector. $100 takes them
Edit- sold
