The jackstands need to be very strong too. Also make sure it is a very robust hydrolic jack you use to lift the diff that won't easily roll. Put chocks in front of both front wheels as well. Be careful, it's not like changing a tire, if the vehicle falls off of the jackstands it will hit the ground. I can tell you these things from experience. :-)
I had no issues installing my Trac bar with the truck on the ground and the wheels on. Am I misunderstanding something about your install? I don't have a spare tire underneath maybe that helped?

I believe in the spindle gussets after my incident, I have a set welded to be installed but needs to be powdercoated first. I got jammed going around a steep declining corner ravine wall and it was not a hard impact at all but just enough pressure to bend my spindle. Yeah I should of trusted the line from the guy in front of me, my poor decision. Luckily I was able to drive home with some serious negative camber but I had to road hazard my tires as well. Total Choas gussets and cam tabs would be a good choice to go with after you Skid row it. PM me if you are serious about gussets, there are a few Tacomaworld guys that can do the welding but they will need your stock ones as cores.
All great suggestions on this thread!

Thanks gang! I guess front armor will be the priority and work my way back. I already have the sliders. I may grab some gussets as well since I have a buddy that has an auto fab shop and can weld them properly. Where I live, most of the trails and such are several hours drive so better to address potential weaknesses BEFORE they make me limp home.

Cam tab gussies

If going with cam gussies Take a look at the new Marlin crawler cam tab gussets. They look beef and a better design.

I'm looking for some rear shock guards. I hit mine pretty good on rock (no damage) but want to beef up that area.

Seeing a couple examples online:

BPF 4runner 04-19 /FJ 07-14 Shock Guards

RCI Off Road | 10-Current Toyota 4Runner Rear Shock Mount Skid Plates-SDHQ

ICON 07-Up FJ Cruiser / 03-Up 4Runner Stainless Steel Lower Shock Shin Guard | POLY PERFORMANCE

Shock Skids for King Shocks |

2010-2019 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner - Lower Shock Guard - Pair – Rago Fabrication
