I'm a bit hard of hearing and don't always notice it, but I do not believe it happens in every instance. It really isn't very loud, but I do know it shouldn't be happening.
It sounds like it's coming from the back of the vehicle, no louder on one side than the other. The noise truly isn't noticeable until we get to the door pillars.
Management just informed me that my Runner was "humming" again - and I parked it in the garage about 4 hours ago.
All I need to do to "shut off" whatever is making the noise is to start the thing up then shut it off again.
This is maybe the fourth time in the last year I've noticed it. 70K miles give or take.
Any help / thoughts? Happy New Year to all!

I had a similar sound tiward the rear of my 2019. Turns out it's an evaporative emissions self-test, and it can occur after hours of non-use. Does it sound like a faint hum?
