"Electrical" hum after engine turned off?

I've searched the 5th gen forum and can't locate anything on this. My 2016 Runner (all stock,) will, on occasion, after shut down, emit a low "humming" sound - it almost sounds like a small electrical motor. And, it continues long after the engine's been turned off. I'm a bit hard of hearing and don't always notice it, but I do not believe it happens in every instance. It really isn't very loud, but I do know it shouldn't be happening.

It sounds like it's coming from the back of the vehicle, no louder on one side than the other. The noise truly isn't noticeable until we get to the door pillars.

Management just informed me that my Runner was "humming" again - and I parked it in the garage about 4 hours ago.

All I need to do to "shut off" whatever is making the noise is to start the thing up then shut it off again.

This is maybe the fourth time in the last year I've noticed it. 70K miles give or take.

Any help / thoughts? Happy New Year to all!

More often than not its the fuel pump cycling for some emissions test(gas tank is under drivers rear door). It happens and is normal per Toyota service dept. I had the exact same concern when I first bought my truck and I put my ear to the tank.

I had a similar sound tiward the rear of my 2019. Turns out it's an evaporative emissions self-test, and it can occur after hours of non-use. Does it sound like a faint hum?
