I had my old Nissan pickup broken into a year ago while parked in a small mall parking lot. Window was broken and glove box contents taken along with the faceplate for the radio (not sure what use that would be). So, I now don't leave anything in the glove box that has my name and address on it. I carry my registration and proof of insurance in my wallet.

Can someone tell me how to remove and replace the latch. It looks like there might be locking tabs to hold it in place? I will need to buy a new cylinder lock too. Thanks!!

The latch part # 5556035010CO

The lock part # is 6905642100

And don’t rely on motion detecting floodlights either. Last summer, I stupidly left my door unlocked and the perp came all the way up my driveway under really bright floodlights right outside my bedroom and relieved me of a debit card (which they immediately charged $60 on), my $600 prescription sunglasses (which he probably threw away when he noticed they were Rx), a $200 knife, my jump starter, and a nice flashlight. I’ve since installed a gate which I have to now lock every night.

Seems like it takes about 7 seconds to break into.
Can you explain how to remove the latch and lock assembly? Cannot figure it out. Thanks!

This, the exact reason I added the console safe, in case I ever have anything that needs locked up, much more secure than a plastic door

That was very kind and thoughtful of the crackhead. I would have just ripped your glove box off the plastic hinges.

IMO, most of these thiefs looking for firearms to unload for $ for the bad drugs.
