Roof rack wiring? Ideas wanted...

I'm looking to install a roof rack this Spring and plan on adding some spot and task lighting. I'm interested in hearing ideas on how to route the wiring. Seems like most folks run the wires down underneath the windshield's weather stripping. However, I'm not overly fond of this option. I'm looking for additional input.

Though I'd prefer to see proven solutions, random ideas (that you've only thought about) are also welcome. The electromechanical Force is strong with me, so drilling and wiring are not a problem. So let's hear it.

this is how I brought the wires in on my solar panel, just left a little drip leg and used the grommet for the door wires (loads of spare room in the grommet)

this was 8ga wire so anywhere higher on the door and it pinched too much, but routing it on the side a little avoided any pinching or rubbing. smaller gauge wire you might be able to kind of come in straight from the roof rail, just check it carefully because that gap gets tighter when you open the door

i used 3m adhesive wire clips to keep everything in place and then, not seen in the photos, wrapped in Tesa wire loom tape for additional protection

after this it's really easy to fish wires down the pillar and then you can fish it down to the door channel and take it anywhere you need to.

Waterproof Wire pass through | IH8MUD Forum

You'll want a waterproof wire pass-through. Then you can run all the wires inside the car above the headliner and just have a penetration on the roof.

My front light bar wiring is run up the windshield channel, however the sides and rear lighting are run up the rear.

I split my wiring into sides of the truck; thus each side runs 3 wires to the roof rack (side scene +, rear +, and a shared -). Wires are heatshrunk together and run from the roof rack, under the hatch spoiler, and to the weatherstripping around the hatch. Then the follow the weather stripping down to under the taillight, and enter through a grommet that is covered by the taillight. FWIW, the rear/side lights are wired with 16ga and the windshield light bar is 12ga
