That's good info. Winter here now so it wont be an issue but ill keep an eye on them in the summer. Especially when i drive south for a long trip.

I am unable to find any issue threads on the H9's so i am guessing they are fine even at the higher heat.

Looks like Subaru's also have this as a mod and i was unable to find issue there ether. So H9 mod seems very solid. Even the life span appears more than one may expect.

For $30 these seem like an easy and worth while upgrade.

Great thread, thanks for this.

I am currently looking to upgrade my headlights. I have some Philips X-tremeVision halogens here for the low and high beams, but I wanted to go with LED and pawn those halogens off on the wife's Jeep. But now this thread has me questioning that because in the pics, the Philips bulbs look good. They were also MUCH cheaper than the LEDs I want to get, those will run me $350-$400 CAD. Also from what I understand most LEDs are shit for this headlight assembly but there a few that are ok. I had my eye on sets from Morimoto and Diode Dynamics.

Also, I was putting money away for those Morimoto XB headlights but the light output is really disappointing, that money is now going towards upgrading my sim racing setup, lol.

There are 1,000,000 headlight threads on this forum.

It's so confusing.
  • People recommend HIDs but then they don"t
  • 2Strokes and the fancy Morimots head lights dont work?
  • Use H9's in place of the OEM H11's after you do a chop job?
  • LEDs dont work ?
  • H11 halo's with higher output burn out faster

I have a headache. Someone should put all of this crap in a spreadsheet so people dont have to reinvent the wheel to fix the headlight problem if there even is one.

Tell me about it. I started watching Headlight Revolution's youtube channel and it has helped me out though.

Fyi, headlight revolution, xenon Depot and retrofit source are all one company (same owner), they are in business to make money. I spent hours searching and watching videos, in one vid they endorse bulb x. Next vid it's xx so take it with a grain of salt.
I'm no lighting expert but through reading, watching, and buying I found the H9 and H11x100 to be the best bulb for a 4runner projector without doing a retrofit. Just yesterday 20164runner baked his lights open to black them out. When asked if he would retrofit he said nope, H9 works great
There are hundreds of bulbs with more and brighter lighting. None are fair to oncoming traffic

Is it just me or do the Phillips Xtreme +100s look pretty darn good? I may not be looking at them correctly, but I don't really see noticeable hotspots?

Are those just drop-ins or do they require modifications like the H11s?

The +100x is an H11 drop in without mods. The H9 you need to trim the connection and the metal tabs(not hard to do at all) 100x is $30 and H9's are 12 on Amazon. I didn't notice hot spots with them

Thanks.

Looking at them again, I'm not sure there's too much of a noticeable difference. They're cheap, which is nice, so maybe they're worth trying.

I did a search and found a few mentions of those bulbs. Anyone have any recommendation one way or another on them?

What Problem ??

2019 Toyota 4Runner vs. 2019 Acura MDX

MDX Compared to 4Runner

MDX has LEDs and 4Runner has halogens...wtf?

"Consumer Reports rated the 4Runner’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the MDX’s headlights, which were rated “Good.”"

There are so many things wrong with that comparison that it isn't even funny.
