Idler pulley replaced at 65,000

First part failure so far, except battery died a bit prematurely.

Not the bottom idler, but the one closer to the steering pump. Noticed an intermittent whirring sound.

O'Reilly showed all 3 parts being the same replacement part. Only one came with the required bushing, and the bottom pulley was different.

Just an FYI.

I had 2 pulleys and idler arm replaced under Toyota Platinum Warranty at about 70K. Good luck if you are repairing yourself.

Thanks for the update on the O'Reilly parts, helpful info.

For what it's worth, I had to replace the idler pulley on my JK around 30k miles hah.

Nothing is. Except if one is reverse threaded. I don't recall any of the ones on my 2012 being reverse thread. I changed all of them, there are 3 total, right? Or am I remembering wrong?

Removing the bolt on the lower (#1) idler was a PITA. It was very tight, and clearance for the wrench is an issue.

Yes that's what I remember. 2 identical top ones and a slightly different bottom one.

I wouldn’t know, I don’t work on autos. Just wishing him good luck if he does it himself.
