The sad thing is I did it myself and told them it didnt need done again. They did it anyway..... I've been working on cars for many years, even in an independent shop. The dealer will still find a way to f-it up.

Wow, this thread sounds like the JL Wrangler forum. The dealers can't get it right even with a simple oil change. On the JL with the 3.6L, it only takes 5 qts. However, all other Pentastar 3.6L engines in other vehicles take 6 qts. So almost every dealer overfills the Jeeps with an extra quart. And then you read the threads about new 3.6L with oil pan, main seal, valve cover, and other oil leaks. I had to argue with my dealer until they actually looked it up in their maintenance system... 5qts. The manager printed out several copies and went out immediately to talk to the change techs.

It used to be the only reason you didn't take vehicles to the dealer for repairs and maintenance was the price. Now it's the incompetence. I've still got a 4R ORP on order but kind of sad I have to worry about the same crap from Toyota dealers as I have from the Jeep dealers on my Rubicon.

Funny you say that because I have been looking at Wranglers! lol... Sounds like it is just a lack of skilled techs or techs that actually care.

But your 4r won't be at the dealer near as much.

Rent one for about a week or two. I've had 7 Jeeps including TJs and a JKUR prior to this JL Rubicon and I thought I knew I would love it. It's been great and trouble free for 7000 miles. But I'm just not feeling it this time around. Had I rented one I probably would've saved myself $10K. Lots more if I just kept my '10 Trail.

family member had a 2013 dodge challenger.. water pump leaked ..was under warranty. dealership said it will take 4 weeks to get the part... had to add the anti freeze to run it .. they did not give a vehicle when the repair was done. 2 months later I did the oil change .. never did the oil changes at any oil change place.. takes 45min to drain out the oil ...............

depends on who did the work.if the tech screws up they will blame YOU....most all the time.

I gave good info to a GM truck owner with a frame rust issue. he had a GM truck 2 years old and the frame was rusted very bad.. dealership stated you have to pay for the frame .. cost I think was about $4ooo.... so I told him put it on the internet .. face book and other web sites..well he called me and said one day later they said they are gonna do it for free...that is because they were revealed for their poor service..

Threads like this is the reason why I use only two people to handle everything at my dealership. One is a Service Rep and the other is a tech I'm friends with. He handles everything from my oil changes to putting on all of my aftermarket stuff.

Had a 18 sport for about 5 days when I took a trip back home to PA. I liked it, no complaints. My brother had a couple of TJ's and some friends have TJ's, JK's and JL's. My main concern with them is longevity. Dont think they will last the same as the Toyota. My 3rd gen 4runner was great up to 170k before I got rid of it. Only had to do the 96 headgasket change. All in all, this is just a grass is greener on the other side and the screwed up service woahs.....

I used the "grass is greener" at the dealership the other day. My '20 JLUR looks awesome, performs perfectly, and is, at the moment, a great vehicle. It was what I wanted when I had my trusty ol' 10 Trail. Once I got it, within a month, I was like which one do I want to keep? So I sold the 4R to commit to the idea of the Jeep. Now I have the Jeep, I'm looking to the other side of the fence. I think once I get the new 4R, I won't be looking back to the Jeep side anymore. Maybe Land Cruiser side in the future but not Jeep.

The JLWrangler forum wears you out. T4R forum is a lot of posts on what people are doing with the 4Rs mixed in with a few problem posts. Over at the JL forum, it's problem after problem post (some with 300+ pages) and the occasional I added this, rode this trail post. Again, my JLUR has been perfect but my confidence is waning.

Skilled techs don't do oil changes. Oil changes at dealer are done by 16 year old kids with their first jobs ever. It is minimum wage starter job. They don't give a shit about your vehicle. They don't give a shit about their jobs.

Stop taking your vehicles to the dealer people! How many stories do you need to read?! Find a private good reputation mechanic in your area, or do it yourself.

No matter what the dealer tells you, you do not have to take it to them for service. Just keep your receipts from purchased products and log all the service you do yourself.

Threads like this are making me dread the day I need to take my 4Runner in for the fuel pump recall. Do they usually have more skilled techs take care of the recall work or do I just need to ask around for a dealer with the best service department near me and hope for the best?

Yeah, this! I wish they's sell me the pump and let me do it myself. I don't like working on cars and stuff like I used to but I still do regular maintenance and I really fear allowing the dealer to get it in their hands.
