2020 TRP - Audio upgrades

I called several car audio shops around town and the general consensus is that the 2020 TRP has special filters or DSP that JBL implemented that makes it necessary to change out the whole speakers (as opposed to upgrading in phases.)

My questions are:

1. Has anyone upgraded their audio system (premium audio) and what speaker brand/model did you use?

2. I would like to keep my stock head unit, what AMP and DSP that is recommended that will work well with the JBL HU.

3. Will I lose any functionality or features? I would like to gain much better sound quality but not lose any features from current stock.

4. Subwoofer and enclosures that will work well without losing significant trunk space.

Thank you in advance. I did some searching but I couldn't really find anything related to the 2020 Premium audio.

There really isn’t any reason to change it out. The jbl setup in the 19-20 pros and Limiteds(I think) is way better than what the other trims have.

It also sounds better to me than the previous JBL systems did in the earlier years.

I don't have premium audio, but if I did, I'd start with this and this to get TOSLINK OUT, then send that signal to a quality DSP. I love my Helix, but there are plenty of other options out there.

You'll still have to confirm the back of the 2020 head unit has the same connections as previous years, though.
