Can't Shift out of Park

Had an odd experience today and wondering if others have gone through the same or any insight/recommendations.

Got into my truck, turned over fine but saw that the ABS, battery, Traction Control and Terrain Select lights were all on after it started. I then went to put the truck into drive but it wouldn't move out of park. My son and I checked out some of the other functions of the truck (lights, horn, etc...) thinking that it may have been an issue with a fuse and learned that the brake lights aren't turning on.

Checked the fuse for the brake lights and it seems fine.

I can get the truck out of park if I engage the shift lock, but otherwise something very weird is going on.

Any insight would be helpful.

Check all other fuses. I believe one of the ECU fuses will go out and cause all kinds of lights.

Could also be low voltage/bad alternator. Check your battery voltage.

A while back there was a thread with similar issue and in one case it was a brake sensor and in another it was a blown brake fuse causing the shifter to lockup.

Not sure how old the truck is, but mileage indicates you are under warranty. Call the dealer and have them tow it to their shop and sort it out. Have them come deop off a loaner for you.

My local dealer will Lyft you to and from your house if needed.

I know it sounds strange but if you have the tools and a pretty new battery there, Id swap it in and see what happens. Battery problems make these trucks do funny things.

This is what I would try if you don’t take it in for a warranty repair. I remember hearing about someone had some weird issue going on in a Tundra. Turns out it was a bad cell in a battery.

I appreciate the recommendations.

Checked the ECU fuses, no luck. Swapped the battery with my buddies Tacoma, no luck.

I ran it down to the dealer this morning and the tech thought it may be what Spartacus mentioned, a bad brake sensor. They're going to check it out but hoping it's nothing major.

I installed the TRD Pro grill and raptor lights a few weeks ago and I'm wondering if I messed something up when I was poking around in the fuse box.

This piece of info stands out to me. I would say these are directly correlated and the truck doesn't know you have the brake pedal pushed.
Looks like folks have had similar problems:

Brake-Shift Interlock - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum

"1) Depress tab on blue plug and pull out.
2) Twist switch counter clockwise and pull down
3) Push new switch up and twist clockwise (I didn't replace the brown nut)
4) Put blue plug back in."

Looks like the part # is 84340-59635, but might want to double check.

I got my truck back from the dealer and learned that it was in fact a bad brake sensor. It was covered under warranty and dealer had me up and running later in the morning. Thanks all for the help.
