2020 4Runner lift voids safety systems.

It is official from the Toyota dealer... I lifted my 2020 4Runner 2 inches in front and 1 in rear and after an alignment the accident avoidence system malfunctioned. The dealer said "lifting the vehicle makes the system unuseable. The only thing we can do is disable it." So that is what I'm allowing Wolfchase Toyota in Memphis to do I guess. Something to think about before you buy a newer 4Runner if the safety sense is a buying factor but you want to run 33s.

good to know that 2019 and older are more mod friendly.

I had originally planned to buy a 2020 but after hearing all the BS that Tundra owners were finding out with the new TSS, I decided that a 19 was a much better option for me. Sounds like Toyota is going to need a little while to figure out some of this stuff.

yep. I'm happy with my 2019. Just wish I had one of the PRO colors along with the KDSS and it'd be perfect.

Funny how one dealer declared it official. We have plenty of 20s on this site alone lifted and problem free. Local dealer is lifting them right on the lots. Hmm?

Yeah, since when do we trust the word of some random dealer? Unless it's in writing from Toyota themselves, I don't believe a word of it.

Incompetent dealer, move along. I have a lift on my 2018 tacoma and 2020 4runner without issues and does not void tss. It’s usually not needed but it can be recalibrated for new ride height. 2017 tacoma owners on tacomaworld would love to say glad i didnt get a 2018 too. I’m just happy to have some toyota 4x4s.
Not many threads here, but tons on tacomaworld about this same topic. Just go elsewhere

I agree....many Tacos and Tundras out there that have been lifted with no issues. In your case you may have to have another dealership help you re-calibrate the TSS sensors.

I agree the system should absolutely be able to be recalibrated. But I can't run around paying $130 diagnostic fee to find out. It's a joke to be told a lift voids the system. What happens if you carry a load that drops the back end an inch?

The tech is not quite perfected yet. While lots of people doesn’t have any issues, there are still enough that do to be annoying.

I have a 2020 with a 2" front 1.5" rear lift and have ZERO issues after the realignment. Going on 3500 problem free miles so far.
