Looking for 5th Gen "BUYER'S GUIDE" and input
I went through a few of the pages and couldn't really find what I was looking for, and quite frankly not a very patient Googler.
I am looking for the comparisons on the various models of 2019 and 2020s to figure out what model I would like to buy. What does everyone prefer for a mostly daily driver but will be tastefully modified within the year (King or Icon lift, audio, roof rack, etc). Like what would I be missing out on if I got a limited over a TRD?
I am coming from a bunch of 4th gens, a 2010 (which I missed the V8), and most recently a 2009 V8 Limited 4x4.
Any help in my choice would be GREATLY appreciated.

What are your (realistic) plans with owning one?

4Runners have not changed much in 10 years. 2014 got the ugly front, and 2019 or 2020 get the safety sense stuff.
The limited comes with 20 inch wheels and full time all wheel drive that can be locked to act as part time like the SR5 and others. Leather seats and a few other dress up items.
Limited has plastic wood trim, more chrome to plastidip and 2 zone A/C, heat, heated seats, auto headlights.
Limited has XReas suspension that you would remove for your lift later.
SR5 is minus the above items. It would be a good platform to modify.
Off Road version is like the old Trail, an SR5 with Hood Scoop, locking rear diff, Multi/Terrain, Crawl Control and KDSS.
If you want/need a locker and Multi/Terrain, the Off Road is a good choice also. I have a Trail and get good use of the Multi/Terrain and occasional use of the locker. I opted out of the KDSS.

Thanks for the input.
My plan is this....
Buy a 19 or 20 in CA and have the essential mods done there. Then spend the next 6-9 months getting it back to the east coast in 3-7 day increments. Visiting friends, fishing, camping, sightseeing, and then leaving the 4R Someplace until I can get back to do my next leg.
My most serious off roading will likely be a serious camp. More likely to encounter the trails finding a good fishing spot or out to the field to set up my decoys.
Realistically, most of the driving will unfortunately be on the highway, but I still want the look and capabilities of a badass 4R. This being said, I really do like the luxuries that come along with the Limited.
Would I be crazy to mod a Limited? The look of the TRD is so much better.

If you are going to do suspension mods soon after buying, then TRD Off Road Premium non-KDSS seems like the sweet spot.

If you think the Limited is what you really want, I'd suggest a CPO GX460. You can get one off-lease, CPO for $35-$40k and it will be much much nicer than any 4Runner and just as capable.

GX can be modded, but it's going to be more expensive and most lift kits on sale in the US are optimized for the 4Runner.

GX looks like a good choice if you are OK with 1.5 inch less clearance, no front skid plate and a lower approach angle. For most dirt roads this should be OK. I really like the front and side cameras, won't have to make my co driver get out and spot for me.
