Roof ideas for Hauling Kayaks.

I just got my 5th gen 4Runner several months ago and I have slowly been doing work to it. I’m now in the market for a ladder and roof rack/basket. I had J-bars the last few years but I’m looking for alternatives this year. I’m going to be ordering a go I ladder next week so now I need roofing ideas. What all do y’all use?

I've been using the Toyota OEM crossbars. Not super-fancy, but they're light, low-profile, quiet, cheap, and fine for a couple of lightweight canoes or kayaks.

Ya, theres a ton on that thread @md-lucky posted. Here is my setup with my gobi rack. I have the Yakima J-Lo's and love them. They collapse when they aren't being used so you dont have antlers when you're driving around.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I ran the J-Lo's with my stock Cross bars as well with zero issues and great fitment.

Yakima or Thule crossbar setup will give you the most bang for the buck if you can find used rack parts. You can add a basket to either of those down the line if you wish. I don't have a great deal of trust in the factory crossbars since they will flex a little which can eventually loosen whatever you have attached to them.

We've got a bunch of people using our crossbars combined with Yakima or Thule kayak mounts.
