Have you thought about the Victory 4x4 rear bumper offering? It's not $3k and if you only ran the passenger side swing out you wouldn't need to move your camera. Additionally, removing the swingout(s) is super simple, maybe 15 minutes tops, so you could leave it off until you go offroading and then toss it on. That way you're not dealing with the swingout most of the time and the chance of theft is minimized (or just do like I did and get keyed lugs that match the rest of your wheels). Granted, this option still adds the weight, but I think any route you take there's going to be some kind of trade off.

I have. It's perdy. Reminds me of a stealth fighter with those angles.

Still looks like it blocks the camera pretty good. IDK that there are many if any options where you won't have to relocate the camera (not that big of a deal but it's money and time).

I do think you are right. Every option has it's tradeoffs and I'm going to have to settle one way or another. Hoping I can save the weight and dough if possible. :/

Flat Bed Mount Tire Carrier | WilcoOffroad.com

$215, done deal.

Cut a piece of plywood and strap it to the spare and you also have a nice little table for tea parties.

Parley tyrant! Na but I like that alot more then 'Ghetto Country' bed mount I posted. Maybe do this one and build a platform over it...

Need to throw my spare in the back this weekend and see what that looks like.

That's one way to get the spare off the roof!

Link to the cargo box build I posted.

Cool build, but do you need the additional storage? If not, you could just ratchet strap the spare down. You wouldn't add any weight or have to build anything. Simple and cheap...and easily "reversible".

strap it to the hood. duh

For now sure that should work fine. I could defined benefit from the added storage tho. I like how he made a the platform over the tire a slide. It’s honestly perfect. Going to try and make mine prettier if I can with my basically zero experience with carpentry.

Where will I stick my suction dildo collection on long trips now?! Nothing wagging at me from the hood anymore? I couldn’t give up my ways.

I agree. It's not very aesthetic, but functionally it gets high marks. I'd go with shag carpet though.

Shag carpet and dildos. A match made in some very twisted heaven.

Perfectly level with the wheel well panel plastics.

honda250xtitan 01-03-2020 08:17 PM

you should just cut off the frame rails too, all the clearance. ;)

srsrogerissrs 01-03-2020 08:24 PM

It's pretty common in the jeep world. http://www.jeepsite.net/HatchShelf07.jpg

You could make a base plate for the cargo area and integrates some tie downs so you can strap down the spare. Build a little cargo table that you can strap down on top of the spare to use as more storage.

I debate this actually. Have something custom fabbed. Or cobble something together myself. But, all the ****ing criminally negligent drivers in the valley make me think otherwise. Think a bare bolt over (the frame rails) bumper has its merits in that respect.

Yeah that’s kinda where I got the idea. The old box body Jeep suv dangle came with it mounted back there oem.

That’s true I don’t need to go crazy here. I keep coming up with different ways to do this.

Torn to say the least.
