Traded 4Runner for Tacoma

I traded my 2016 SR5 4Runner 4WD for a 2020 TRD Off Road Tacoma 4WD. I really like the 4Runner but I always have had Tacomas since they came out in 95. I also had 4WD Toyota PU since 1985. The 4Runner was great but I am a pickup man. The Tacoma is much more modern than the 4Runner. I almost always am by myself so I don't need the room of the 4Runner. The TRD Off Road has more features than my 4Runner like locking rear differential, Android auto Safety sense and much more. I liked my 4Runner but I feel I got a great deal on my Tacoma. I only drive Toyotas.

A truck with rear drums and leafs is more modern?

More modern than what, an Amish buggy?

Traded 4Runner for Tacoma

I should have known better than to post here. I don't have to explain what I mean. 4Runners are great OK. I have had 4WD Toyotas since 1985 4Runners and Pick Ups and Tacomas. I think I know what I am talking about.

Same suspension and brakes as 1985, too.

And the 4Runner has the interior. Your preferences are not the same as another. He is talking interior and lighting. Those are both lightyears ahead of the 4Runner

The new Tacomas look pretty good, but I dont feel that they are really an upgrade; more of a lateral. Though I dont like the whole safety sense thing. They are just "too smart" in a bad way. I probably would not buy a new car if it has those limit crippling features.

You make some good points and Ive driven a 2019 TRD pro stick shift they aré really awesome trucks and the interior is really nice plus they tow 1000lbs more then a 4runner. I had a 1st Gen extended çab for a long time and really liked that truck. It's super simple to put 33 inch tires on the Tacoma with not much then a slight fender mod. Good luck with your Tacoma and enjoy it.

The 2020 4runners have some of the tech now. Safety sense etc. I test drove both and bought the 4runner only because it was more comfortable and back seat is usable.

The taco did have rear parking sensors and blind spot monitoring. Better mpg, 6 speed transmission. Pluses and minuses for both. Both are excellent but if I’m paying 40k for a truck I’ll go Tundra.

Congrats on the taco. They are great trucks

Android auto and safety sense are not features, those are selling points for hipsters. Enjoy the tacoma though, i want a tacoma parked in the garage next to my 4 runner...been trying to convince the wife to trade in her corolla for years.

Congratulations on your new ride, and ignore all naysayers. Not sure why your purchase would bother someone else. Tacomas are great trucks. And if you're a pickup guy, you're a pickup guy. Enjoy your new truck!

Congrats on your Tacoma. I went the other way when I bought my 17 Pro. And now just got the 2020 Pro. I don’t care about the safety sense. I like the other features. I just turn off the safety sense.

There is nothing on that Tacoma that is more modern than the 4Runner except your model 4Runner. The 4Runner comes with all the same stuff and actually a bit more modern than the Tacoma if you got a 2020 like you did on the Tacoma, plus you don;t get drum brakes and other dated stuff.
