Still working on solutions... has anyone found magazine attached mounts for a rifle to ride in the passenger side of the console.

Thanks guys!
most of the magnetic stuff i have seen is for handguns. i havent seen a holster type deal for a rifle mag, you will likely run into leverage issues with the weight. i have seen racks mounted to molle panels (usually on the back of a seat) that you could probably make work.

if the molle stuff interests you. check out grey man tactical. they also have rifle mounts.

Interesting ideas in here. So far the best method seems to be @Drobs picture. Though in general I dont see an AR as easily functional/usable while in the vehicle as it would probably be pretty clumsy. But I like the method of transport.

IMO for real functionality it's hard to beat any type of handgun really. Just curious, but what would be the purpose/logic of choosing an AR over a handgun for vehicle carry(other than transport)?

I don't leave any firearms in the car 24/7 myself. I only take them with me while camping as protection from animals mostly - and in certain places the 2 legged type of threats as well. Typically I bring a glock20 and S&W 329PD. I figure if you don't take out your threat within the first couple shots it's over anyway.

You could sell a bunch of those covers....and I would be first in line!

I also don't leave guns in the car overnight. However, I do bring handguns and a rifle with me if taking long road trips.

These AR Pistols are short, if carrying it up front - could easily shoot through the windshield if need be. Might need hearing aids afterwards though.

See right here we see how selfish people are..buddy goes on a wonderful boat ride with 20 whores and 50 gallons of liquor..boat likely goes over Niagara falls as everybody is blind drunk..all guns lost. Miraculously the liquor barrel floats..as do a few of the whores.. and yet

He sees fit to to NOT offer the rest of us gun owners a cruise on the river with him...

Sad days op..very sad

I do keep a pistol in my console safe. I would like to have a rifle in the vehicle because I go to school in downtown Birmingham, and my wife works there as well. I would like to have a rifle should I ever have to make the 9 mile trek home if that ever became a necessity. We had protestors completely shut down major roadways after a police shooting here a while back. You never know when that sort of thing could turn into riots. And as far as general purpose/logic, I am far more effective with a rifle than I am with a pistol when it comes to getting rounds on target quickly and accurately.

I do not have a good solution for AR-15 storage in my T4R other than my hard sided pelican case. But then again, I don't carry one around for protection either. You guys must live in some f'ed up areas to be carrying an AR15 around "just in case."

I would NOT trust a rifle that had been dropped from a helicopter or sat on. After all your life could depend on it and it doesn't take much force to mess it up no matter how good your mounts are.

I think that for some, sighting in a weapon is a religious thing. (I know, Don't laugh) People spend hours and hours getting it just right. Even gentle bouncing around under the seat could knock it out of adjustment.

Also keep in mind it's not just the physical mounts that can fail, holographic sights (EOTech) and even optical scopes like Leupold, Bushnell or Vortex are pretty fragile. A dead battery and my Eotech is useless.

Storing it under the seat might work if properly protected on all sides, but how the hell would you get it out in a hurry if your life depended on it?
