Reverse lights as switched work lights

Does anyone know if it’s been done or how to make the existing reverse lights be switched so they can be on when the runner is in park or drive? One of the empty switch locations for seat heaters may get a new switch. Do not want to add lights or change existing light functionality.

If you install a "tails as turns" module, the original turn signal fixture can become individually switched as there's a simple pigtail that now powers them. They have a pigtail that can be used to toggle power to that fixture from another source, like a separate switch on the dash. Put white LEDs in there, run the wiring to your new dash switch, and bam! New switchable work lights in the original tail light fixture.

For back up lights? Didn’t see reverse lights in their write up.

No, for the turn signals you no longer need. The way it works you end up with a spare set of lights in back that can easily be switched to use whenever you want. They’re ready to accept a single spade connector with 12v from your relay or switch.

It’s rather brilliant actually. I’m using them for a second set of reverse light now but you don’t have to. My plan is also to run switched 12v back there and use them for camp lights.

Yeah I was just wanting to send 12v to the lights downstream of the transmission switch. Diode the path back to the transmission switch. Somehow regulate the voltage so the lights don’t get 24v. Switched from the center console. No change in stock functionality.

You wouldn't get 24V by completing the circuit as you described. I have thought about doing something similar for forcing my fogs on outside of using the factory switch.

So far this is what I came up with. I think you would just need a second diode on the stock path to the backup lights. So two power outputs to the lights with no path for the power to return. The only thing is, you might get a bulb out warning light on the dash.

If I didn’t toggle off the switch before going into reverse I think I would. Diode blocks backward flow. The computer could still “see” the reverse lights cause the flow would not be affected in that direction.
