2011 Trail Shoreline Blue
Just curious, i bought a 2011 TE in Shoreline Blue w/ KDSS. I know it's silly, but someone called it a unicorn. What are ya'lls thoughts? What's crazy, is the dealership i bought it from had it on their list for almost a year. ZERO rust and pristine body and interior. 161k miles unfortunately but it runs like a champ. im a mechanic so the miles didn't bug me much.

Yes , unicorn...seem to be more rare than the TRD Pro colors people pay a premium for. Right

You never see ANY SBP T4Rs, let alone a Trail Edition. I would say unicorn for sure. I would be curious to see the sales numbers. I don't think that many were sold of any trim. Post up some pics

There is a decent selection of them in the limited trim, trail is rare.
Exactly the vehicle I want.
That combination just works with the color and trail edition.
A shoreline blue trail came up for sale by me a while back that I thought was seriously overpriced. I thought I would go look just for kicks, sold immediately .
Congrats!!

Thanks guys! I was blown away by how clean it was too. I’m in love with this rig. I’ve owned a 2015 TRD Pro and i would take me Trail any day.

2010-13 Trail editions are very very rare by default… now you add KDSS, great condition (regardless of mileage) and a particular color you like and you will get the ultimate “unicorn”, Congrats and enjoy your 4Runner!!

If I remember correctly in March of 2011 Japan had a major earthquake, shutting down production for awhile.
Total production numbers in 2011 were barely 44,000.
I would guess the majority of those were base model SR5's. Limited's has to be the next major portion of the run, followed by the trail model. I don't think they publish production by trim level, but I'd love to see the numbers.
I wish I had bought two of them when I got mine......Congrats on your purchase!

Definitely rare. I shopped for 6+ months to find either a Shoreline Blue Pearl or Salsa Red Metallic 10-13 Trail from a non-rust part of the country with low miles. Ended up flying to Nashville and driving one home. In that time I saw no SBP that I would have purchased, and only one SRM that I would have considered.

i was reading about that! that makes sense not seeing that many in that model year. i see a few driving around but never this color or even a trail. someone else said it, and it makes sense, people buy these and keep them!

In the spring of 2011, I had mine pulled out of a dealership in Nampa, Idaho and brought to Canada. Up here they didn't sell Trails with the JBL, and the exchange rate then meant it was actually cheaper for me to import, even with all the fees and costs. You're right about the Fukushima earthquake. I remember being told there wouldn't be many more coming over for awhile because of it. Life took a hard right on me, and it's been pretty much parked in my garage for a couple of years now. I just take it out to give it some exercise a few times a year. 30,000 miles on it.
