I have (4) 12 ton stands. Because why not? More height than I'll ever use and super stabile since I rarely extend them out at all.

I have a set of 12 tons that are my primary stands. Mostly because of the height I can get them to. It becomes necessary on vehicles with moderate lifts and big tires if you want to drop a solid axle out of the thing. Don't think I have ever used them on the 4 runner though. Maybe under the frame for a tire rotate or during my front spacer install but that would be it.

Also have 4 of the 3 tons for "light work" like just holding a single wheel off the ground as opposed to trying to keep the whole vehicle lifted by the frame, which where the 12's come in.

Yikes... a little scary that some of you are using 3 ton harbor freight jack stands. They were so janky even with my 3200 pound M3 that I replaced them with something better. I need jack stands for the 4runner, but they'll certainly be more skookum than 3 ton HF jack stands made of unknown alloy X and welded by a child.
