If I had the same harness it would make total sense.

Okay let me see if I am understanding correctly: The issue is that you do not know where the red wire coming from your switch goes to?

If that is the case, wire it to your fuse box (drivers side under the dash) using an Add-A-Fuse in the WIP (Wipers) fuse slot (use like a 5amp fuse). This only has power when the key is in the ignition or when the engine is running. This will give your switch LED's power and allow your switch (when enabled) to give the OK for your relay to draw power from your battery.

You can buy an Add-A-Fuse from any auto store for like $3.99. I bet if you brought in your harness that they would even crimp it for you if you asked.

FYI, for 5th gens you'll need the MINI Add-A-Fuse. To be specific, this is what you need: Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance

Yes, that's what I said and he said it didn't work, which makes no sense to me.

If you took that red wire and ran to battery and the raptor lights were always on, then running it to something that was only hot when the vehicle is on should be your fix.

It did come with an ad a fuse so no issues there. So this goes back to my other question a few posts back...... essentially the blue backlight and the red would have to be wired together and into the add a fuse, so that the back light function works and also the switch now has power to trip the relay right?

When I connect the the red wire to the battery directly everything functions correctly except the switch turns on and off even when the vehicle is off, so you’re correct. I’m thinking maybe I did something wrong when you told me to connect the red via add a fuse, I’m gonna go re do it and try again.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking. If you hook it up to battery and the raptor lights can be turned on and off with the switch then that should be your fix.

I have an LED light bar that I have wired that way on purpose so I can push the AOB button if I need to light up campground or something I am doing without having to leave keys in the truck. While helpful, I have accidentally left it on and had to jump the vehicle after the battery died. LOL

And I think that this is one of the things firegod wants to avoid (although the raptor lights might take months to drain a car battery lololol).

@firegod33r

It sounds like you simply need to connect the blue/red together with an Add-A-Fuse into a the fuse box under the drivers side dash into a fuse slot that ONLY gets power when the key is in or the engine is on.

Again, I recommend the fuse slot called "WIP" which is power for the wipers which is a fuse slot that only gets power when the key is in of the engine is on.

【55】Raptor Grill Lights ‣ Smoked Black Amber [4K]

This is the video I made installing Raptor Grill Lights. I used fuse adapter to plug directly to the fuse box because I like it ON when the car is on. It looks amazing and not that expensive to MOD. I recommend it. =)

Nice vid.
That cover is called a Sight Shield, the clips are called Sight Shield Clips. You don’t just put a screwdriver under them and pop them off.
You press the middle of them and release them and they come out with your fingers!

That way you won’t break them!

I just wired my raptor lights up to a switch (“Sasquatch Lights” bc there was no raptor or marker lights option) from aironboard.com.
I also used a relay wiring harness I got from Amazon that people buy aftermarket for light bars ditch light etc.
Took me a while to figure it all out bc I had to cut and splice and modify the relay harness to fit my needs. I also didn’t want it powered directly from the battery (+) terminal because I feared I’d forget to turn the switch off after leaving my vehicle and either they would remain on or the small light in the switch itself would still be lit up.
So I wired the positive red power in to the add a fuse (came with raptor lights) that goes to the 10amp ENG fuse in the engine bay. Now switch functionality and light only work when engine is on.
Attached is a drawing of how I wired, cut, and modified everything. Hope this helps people that want a switch option for lights and also don’t want them to always have power even after car is turned off.
I am by no means an expert, this is just what I figured out after watching a bunch of YouTube videos and reading the forums. Do the same at your own risk! Haha, but really it works, wasn’t to hard, and I think it’s a safe option.

It’s funny because I have the exact same wiring harness, but still can figure out what to do with the extra RED lol
Is have a white from the relay to the original Amazon button, but then end up with a ground and red out of the white connnector?..
