Entunes does suck and when I first got my runner I really wanted the bigger screen of the T8 but i heard horror stories so I Waited for the T9... few weeks later, started reading bad stuff about it too... So I stuck with what I know.

Oh yes, I'm sure this thing isn't installing spyware on every phone it's connected to. It's also definitely not sending any data back to China, nope, it's definitely different than all the cheapo no-name devices from China that were found to do so.

I think that just looks super cheap, at least the T8/T9 setup actually looks pretty good.

And you guys do realize your stock radio is made is China as is your phone and probably 90% of your electronics, there's just a huge difference in the standard of quality.

There is a huge difference between items that are made for a major manufacturer (to their specs and with their quality control) and stuff like this made in the absolute cheapest way. The costs are often subsidized by the Chinese government in return for data.

You think that the US government is "big brother"? You ain't seen nothing yet when it comes to China.

You have no idea what data you are giving away in return for a cheap radio/phone

The T9 is a great deal if you are willing to fiddle with it on a daily basis when it acts up. I can't be doing that and driving. So after a month of it being installed, and 3-4 times of removing it and fixing crap and reinstalling, I finally yanked it out for the last time and put the stock unit back in.

1. Whine noise
2. Reboot issues
3. Backup Camera doesn't always activate.
4. Loses radio stations sometimes.
5. Volume control going up just one digit 2 to 3 is a large increase.
6. Doesn't have enough extra power to charge your phone with USB when using it for car play.
7. Weak cellular, wifi and fm station signals even with a stronger/larger antenna.
8. Fitment issues still around the vents. They do not fit completely flush like the factory did.
9. Two versions behind on Android.
10. Can't auto connect to hotspot on phones, so every time requires you do manually connect it.

Probably more, but these were my biggest complaints.

Never understood the anti china mentality when it comes to this. Basically every device we own is data mining us. This has always been the case. Doesnt matter who made it. Someone gathers info and sells it. Made in the USA is a f'n joke as youll likely find under scrutiny that their products also made in China but "designed" in the USA. Dont forget how many chinese investors have huge stakes in american companies.

[TinHat]
This is not to say its not an issue. Quite the opposite, consumers should be *****ing at this level for every single product and company regardless of their country of origin. Pure ignorance to only ever call out China especially considering the US govt has been trying to get their own backdoor passkey into every single mobile device sold in the states. In some cases they have succeeded. Hint: even the US govt uses foreign nationals to conduct daily business and as we have seen they are sometimes not working in our best interests.

If you have ever interacted with your mobile device, that info is logged on a sever and can be accessed, stolen, or sold. Ever spoke to alexa, siri, or google assistant? Audio is recorded without you being aware. How else do you think it knows when youre talking. Those recordings are used to "improve" service. Go to your google account and you'll find copies of your voice interactions which could include personal information or private conversations with your kids. [/TinHat]

If your truly worried about your data and privacy dont use any electronic device that can connect to something. Even bluetooth connections will transfer data. Regardless of who you think made a product, no data is safe. Just the nature of the world we live in. $$

This has nothing to do with where it's made, it's about having a reasonable expectation of controlling who has access to your data.

The difference is that when you plug your device into an Alpine head unit, any data collection activity must generally be disclosed. There are certifications and agreements between manufacturers to use labels like Android Auto, Car Play, etc. There are supply chains, retailers, etc. that all have an interest here. There's accountability, both within the trade and legally.

With a random fly by night Chinese-made product like this being distributed out of some random dude's townhouse, there is absolutely zero accountability. There are more than a few examples of the Chinese or Chinese government using spyware on devices like thumb drives, wifi cameras, off-brand cellphones and tablets, and more.

I'm not excited about corporations collecting data on me, but I've decided that the tradeoff is acceptable. That story changes when it's a foreign adversary whose motivations are questionable or unknown.

As far as I’m aware it will just be grey finish.

I agree! I am buying with all my own money.....well the amount my wife lets me have... lol. If this thing is a piece of junk I will be honest and will send it back. I am not a influencer and don’t plan on selling these to make a profit with referrals or promo codes etc.

T9 has a ~16 band EQ, multi-channel delay adjustments and sounds as good as high end units I’ve had from Alpine and Pioneer (I’m running the OEM Audio+ amp/speakers/sub). I know I sound like a fan boi, but really, it’s good.

I am especially going to pay attention to the JBL integration as that’s what I have with tweeters middlers and sub. Hopefully I don’t have to rewrite my entire truck ! Though a lot of the speakers are kinda flappy now. Too many -50 Canadian winters and me still wanting my music! Lol. Mine is a 2010 maxed out sr5 . So basically a limited without the name badge and gps radio.

I will for sure! I’ve been waiting a little to long for a new head unit but glad I have with all the other problems users have had. Owned my rig since new in 2010 and just crested 180000 kms..

I came across this thread, and well i feel I have a bit of information about this topic. First I would liek to say I am an imigrant in the usa and with a some what limited budget to modify my car. I am an automotive tech , but i have been modding cars and installing stereos for the past 15 or so years. I also consider my self and afficionado to cunsumer electronics and electricity in general.

So the past 3 months I have indulged my self in the quest for the perfect head unit. My wifes hu died and I decided to give her my pionner dd set up and look for a modern more up to date unit. First as im sure many of you did , I considered big names double dins, then went onto looking at the halo 9. How ever the price was a big factor for me. Also i briefly looked at oem units but the price and lack of functions scared me away. I then started playing with the idea of a tablet connected through a blue tooth or maybe a carputer ( which no one , installs now a days). After writing down my necesities and wants of a head unit. I arrive at the ever so popular t8. Well after researching into it. I though the price was not worth a no name product and the obiously all the issues that came with it. I then started looking into the 13inch no name and various 10 inch brands of android HU ( all from china). Well after researching my options I ended up with 3 finalists. The dasaita head units, car trims t9 and the alibaba 13 inch tesla style radio. I made paper cut outs of 8, 10 and 13 inch screens to see what would fit better with our blocking much and which could turn....... then the sounds quality and reverse camera speed came..... at the end I had two finalists the t9 and the dasaita 10.2 inch px6 . After digging even deeper and looking at every video youtube had to offer about both, I came to the concluision that the dasaita gave me a bigger screen and more bang for my buck. It even had better customer support as well as a longer history making head units.

Now when the package arrived I was not suprised by the some what unpolished product. I have ordered tons of things from china and have a pretty good idea of their manufacturing. I installed everything and well the product is decent. It does have glitches here and there. But nothing uncomon of head units. Ive had similar issues with kenwood and pioneer and even had 2 or 3 big brand units die on me after 2 or 3 years. So now that i have installed the px6 I can say:

The head unit does everything is supoosed to and more. Is a big step up from a factory unit and pretty fun to play arround with. Does it have issues? Of course!!! Some people hate the logo(put a toyota sticker over it) , the leds are blue.. ( I could re solder red ones) , the leds bleed a bit into the screen ( Im too busy driving to care or even notice.
So in short for the money it is a good unit. So for last why did go ever the px6 if thats not even the unit the thread is about. Well my thinking is the following:

I purchased the dasaita px6 because I wanted to get a feeling of the brand and the product. Because lately is har to get a decent review online, I had to shell out the money to test the unit, and then sell it as used. Why you may ask? Because although i love the huge screen on the unit. I feel like the oem look is a bitter fot for my life style. I tend travel to places where there is a bit of crime, so a hu sticking out my dash is begging someone to break a window just to Steal the radio. Also my vents get a bit covered by the screen.
So I say in my mind the head unit that will give you the best bang for your buck would be the Dasaita unit for the 2010_2020 toyota 4runner.
Ps. For all those users concern about the sound quality. I do think this unit has better sound that the stock hu. How ever been realistic, between my offroad tires, the wind noise of my gobi rack, the wind deflectors and the solid rear on our trucks. The driving noise does not allow you to fully apreciate a perfectly tuned and awsome sounding stereo.

Just my 2 centavos!

Wow great review! I am expecting typical Chinese lack of pretty packaging too.!! Wrapped in 2 layers of bubble wrap that’s wrapped in a couple layers of packing tape. I am driving more and more in bigger cities and use google maps a lot so the fact this will be mounted and able to do Apple car play or android auto and sounds good is enough for me. I’m sick of mounts for my phone on the dash as either my phone always falls out of them or I forget to put it in the holder. I think a nice flush mounted head unit will attract less crime and look more factory for resale. I am a master electrician so know my way around stuff and my father is a electronics tech .
