1. Whine noise
2. Reboot issues
3. Backup Camera doesn't always activate.
4. Loses radio stations sometimes.
5. Volume control going up just one digit 2 to 3 is a large increase.
6. Doesn't have enough extra power to charge your phone with USB when using it for car play.
7. Weak cellular, wifi and fm station signals even with a stronger/larger antenna.
8. Fitment issues still around the vents. They do not fit completely flush like the factory did.
9. Two versions behind on Android.
10. Can't auto connect to hotspot on phones, so every time requires you do manually connect it.
Probably more, but these were my biggest complaints.

Wow, that sucks! I read quite a bit about the T9 and was really concerned I would have a lot of the issues you listed here but I pulled the trigger anyway as it usually seems like the people that have issues are usually the ones that write reviews. So far (knock on wood) it has been worked well for the last 4 months. Only thing I had to do was update the software with an EQ patch but the FB group was really helpful and it was a snap to get it up to spec. Felt like it was well worth the investment so far. BTW - If you got it from CTH you should at least try to recoup with a new unit then turn around and sell it.

I sold it to another member. Didn’t have time to deal with it plus decided to sell the truck.
Some of the issues were common with people on cth fb which is where I bought mine from.

He must have got a bad unit, or not done the software update, because nearly all of those complaints are fixable besides the fitment around the vents and the fact that it is on Android 8.
The fitment around the vents could be better but unless you are looking for it you wont notice it. According to the Facebook group they are working on an Android 10 update right now.
There are a few small software things I would like to see updated, but honestly I love my T9. It has done everything I want so far. It looks great, I use google maps for navigation, poweramp is much better than the OEM music and I can play FLAC files, the bluetooth works better, I setup the ODB link to see my tire pressure and other diagnostic things, and the EQ and sound delay per channel makes my music sound SO MUCH better than OEM.

No sir. I’m in the group and others had the same issues I had and more actually from reboot loop issues that I didn’t have thankfully. Lots of recent issues lately.

I am in the group as well. I dont pay too much attention to the issues that people have since I havent had any, but most of them seem to get solved.
It sounds like you still have your T9 so Ill take a stab at helping you with some of your issues if you want to give it another go... answers in bold

Was a known issue for a while, I believe they will warranty it for you, the new units are not supposeed to have this issue (mine doesnt). You can adjust the potentiometer yourself as well
2. Reboot issues
Dont have anything on this one, I havent had this issues
3. Backup Camera doesn't always activate.
Mine always activates, but it is a second or 2 slower than OEM. I would check that the video setting is on "auto" and possibly using the other video connection on the harness
4. Loses radio stations sometimes.
Sorry, I dont listen to the radio
5. Volume control going up just one digit 2 to 3 is a large increase.
The volume control is adjustable. Go to Settings > Car Settings > Extra Settings > Amp Volume
6. Doesn't have enough extra power to charge your phone with USB when using it for car play.
I dont use car play so I dont know this one either. I do see people talk about powered USB ports a lot
7. Weak cellular, wifi and fm station signals even with a stronger/larger antenna.
Im using the antennas it came with and I have had great radio (only tested briefly), and GPS signal. The wifi is okay but its a little far from my router in my driveway (I only use this to update apps occasionally).
8. Fitment issues still around the vents. They do not fit completely flush like the factory did.
This is true
9. Two versions behind on Android.
Also true. I dont really see how this is much of an issue. it still does what it is supposed to. allegedly they are working on an Android 10 update
10. Can't auto connect to hotspot on phones, so every time requires you do manually connect it.
I use my phone as a mobile hotspot and it auto connects every day. Verizon Samsung Galaxy S9+
|
Just to make sure... Have you updated the T9 to the latest software?
I think I use my T9 differently than most people. I have a 128gb USB drive filled with music that I play with Poweramp 75% of the time. I will listen to podcasts over bluetooth the other 25%. And I sometimes use google maps for navigation (Downloaded maps). I have never had any issues with my T9 other than getting used to setting it up initially.
I have the OBD link and a few other app set up too but really I never use them.

New Dasaita Head-unit
Sevag already helped me. I didn’t have the time to keep pulling my dash apart and working with software glitches. When it happens when I’m driving is the most painful as I have to wait till I pull over. So I sold it and went back to stock. But those issues above were what I had left and some weren’t fixable. The hotspot to iPhone is still an issue.
Thanks though.

I just saw this right now. But yeah man, I do make a commission from the sales. But If you watch the videos, I point out all the flaws. At some points I even nudge the viewer to not buy the unit. Long story short, I wanted carplay. If you don't want carplay, then the unit isn't worth it.
I wasn't trying to "sell" the unit at all. And if I was trying to sell the unit to the viewer, Im pretty sure my commission would be a lot higher lol
They did send me a T9 unit for free after I made the T8 video. But it was also for testing. I was the first person to install the unit with the OEM Audio Plus system. So they wanted me to give them some feedback... and why not make a video for my youtube channel in the process?

Well I’ve done it. Ordered the Dasaita Max10. Ordered 3 day shipping. As soon as it’s here, I’ll give installation a shot. Haven’t installed a radio since I was a teen and am not much of an android user, but I’ll let you all know how it goes.

New Dasaita Head-unit
I ended up purchasing the t9 from cth. Before doing so, I joined the cth t9 4runner owners group. The members of this group all discuss the t9 issues and if you purchase from there seller, you get tons of support from this group. CTH T9 4Runner Owners Public Group | Facebook
I installed my first t9 back in mid March. all was well but I had one minor issue with my audio fading off/on. I returned my t9 and two weeks later I got my 2nd t9. The customer service was awesome. The cs guys live on the cth group and are always there to help.
It’s been a few months now and it’s awesome. Keep in mind, I mainly use it for wireless CarPlay. The t9 supports all kinds of android apps, but so far I’ve only used Netflix and Prime Video. Here are a few pictures.
If your on the shelf regarding the t9, I suggest to join the cth t9 group and ask a lot of questions.

Oh I know. I’m part of the T9 group and was going to pull the trigger on it. I just decided to try something different to see if it’s better. If it isn’t, I’ll return it and go with the t9. Until someone tries the Dasaita, we won’t know what’s there. I’m guessing I’ll be the Dasaita guinea pig.

Update: Just checked my email. Dasaita requested a picture of the back of my headunit so that they could include the correct harness. They also asked if I would like the carplay/android auto chip installed on the headunit. This would eliminate the need for a dongle. The chip (Dasaita MAX6 Radio Built- in Carplay Chip Android Auto) allows for wireless or wired carplay and wired only android auto. Chip cost with installation $31.88. Not too bad as the dongle I was going to order from Amazon was $53. That's where I am at the moment. Ball is in their court.

T9 also has built in CarPlay. The built in one had issue, that’s why I went with the external version.

Hope it's not the case with this one. If it is, then I guess I'll have to get the dongle. Just a waiting game now.

So is this Dasaita Max10 a tablet head unit or the factory looking unit?
