Made an appointment this morning at my closest dealer. 3 month wait. Rediculous.

Did you get an email, or a letter?
Does your VIN show up as affected on this site:?
Lookup Safety Recalls & Service Campaigns

I have a 2018 ORP and the article implies mine is affected but it doesn’t show up on the recall site.

Edit:
I believe this is the latest Toyota recall info.
Although an earlier release said only production dates of 2018 and 2019s from June 2018 thru Jan 2019 were affected.

got mine scheduled, they said they would have to order parts, but the previous owner was already on the waiting list. Go in right before the new year for the fuel pump and air bag re call.

Interesting to see how different everybody’s experience has been. A few months after receiving the letter I called the dealership, was told parts needed to be ordered and they would schedule an appointment when they had the parts. 3 weeks later they called back and said it was go time. I scheduled an appointment for the next week. Dropped it off with an almost empty tank and was told it would be a 3 hour wait. Job was done in 2 hrs and 15 mins.

Loaner given?

I'm reading that it should take anywhere from 3-4 hours to do this recall. I also see only couple mentions of a loaner being given from searching this thread.

Anybody have more info. on whether loaner is part of recall? I am going to pitch a fit if I have to sit there 3 hours waiting. My time, as I'm sure yours does too, COSTS MONEY.

If a dealer provides a loaner, it's his choice to do so. Not all will do it.

Coming from position of absolutely no knowledge, I sort of assumed that the costs for the recall would be incurred by Toyota, not the dealer. So I guess I’m still looking forward to answers from maybe somebody who works for Toyota / a dealer. Let me ask more specifically: Is a loaner part of the recall reimbursement to dealers, therefore should I expect a loaner?

Same situation early in the recall for my 2015. Earlier in this thread we speculated there was something specifically wrong with our years since we were being separated out. After calling their recall line, It turned out they did not have a supply of these pumps available and covid slowed the production down.

Fear not though, they will eventually add you to the remedy available list. The full pdf available to download using the recall lookup will be updated every few months or so. I believe the most recent revision mentions they will provide another update in late November 2020 which they are late on...

Its pretty safe to assume you will not be provided one as its only an estimated 2.5hr repair time. I was not offered one during mine but why not call your local Toyota to find out? Or read the recall Q&A:

"Q2: What is Toyota going to do?
A2: Any authorized Toyota dealer will replace the low-pressure fuel pump with an improved one FREE OF CHARGE. Toyota is conducting a phased implementation of the remedy. Refer to the tables below to determine the remedy status for the vehicles involved in this Safety Recall."

i.e. no Toyota mandate on providing loaners.

The only thing they're obligated to do is the repair as instructed by the recall bulletin in approximately the time frame specified and not charge you for it.

When they did my airbag recall, they had the truck for almost 4 hours, futzing around with the dash.

Find yourself a ride home or some games for your cell phone if they'll let you wait at the dealership.

I haven't been to a Toyota dealer that offers loaners in over a decade. The best they used to do is give you a slight discount on their TRAC cars or maybe a Lyft ride home if you're SF Bay Area. I don't know if they're even doing that anymore.

No loaner was given to me. The dealership did provide an Uber ride home and also for pick up at their expense. Due to CV19 reasons, they stopped doing their shuttle rides with their dealership vehicles.

Manufacturer Recall Number20TB02
NHTSA Recall Number20V682
Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available
Summary
The subject vehicles are equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If this were to occur, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine may run rough. This may result in a vehicle stall, and the vehicle may be unable to be restarted.

Safety Risk
If a vehicle stall occurs while driving at higher speeds, this could increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy
Toyota is currently preparing the remedy. When the remedy becomes available, any authorized Toyota dealers will replace the low-pressure fuel pump with an improved one FREE OF CHARGE.

Mine was done in August 2020. Took about a week for Dealer to order and receive the part.

From the Invoice:

1 x 04009-86231 AO KIT, PUMP, FUEL
1 x 04009-81630 AO REPLACEMENT KIT, FUE

Performed at No Charge, I had about 89K miles. No loaner. Dropped it off in the morning and picked it up after 5:00pm same day.

I did completely remove the after-market fuel tank skid plate to avoid any issues there.

I can't really tell a difference, other than the pump doesn't make weird, soft whiney noises after the engine is shut off in the first minute like it used to.
