I asked my service advisor to confirm their method of accessing the pump. She laughed, face palmed, and said it's the first she's heard of cutting a hole in the floor. They dropped the tank.

Not sure why the fascination with cutting the floor. I know the 4th gen has the access panel, but not the 5th gens. I have yet to read/hear about the dealer "cutting" a hole for the recall. It takes less then 30 minutes to drop the tank, it would be more difficult to remove the interior and cut the floor, most individuals, myself included will drop the tank anyway to prevent Murphy when adding access for the fuel pump. Guess its like removing the are bag, lots of misinformation causing fear for little to no reason.

Exactly. I guess it would be cool to have an access port like my 2003, but it would be a project to do it right, and I would definitely drop the tank before cutting the hole.

The dealer is not going to cut a hole in your floor to get to a fuel pump nor is Toyota going to say to do that. That would be ridiculous.

Brought it in a 9 this morning and was told it would take about 3 hours. I got a white 2021 4Runner SR5 as a loaner. The biggest difference between the '19 and the '21 I found is the larger info screen which is nice. I called them at 2PM and they said it was just finished so it was 5 hours. Did they forget to call/text me? Who knows but I'm glad I had the loaner. Two things: I disconnected my Sprint Booster before bringing it in and man what a difference driving from home to the dealer. I'm so happy I have that thing, it makes driving the Runner so much more enjoyable! Secondly the 2021 had less power than my 2019. A difference I could notice right away going from one vehicle to the other. People say a less restrictive muffler and air intake makes no difference but I beg to differ. At least that's done, it was pouring rain so I haven't looked to see if they left out any bolts for the skid plate or anything but I'll look tomorrow.

Thank You
Thank you to all of you who have posted your experiences.
If not for you all, I wouldn't have known that I could schedule my recall appointment now.
Still no official notification from Toyota that the remedy is available.
But, got the fuel pump replaced yesterday.
Then today another dealership I have visited texted me to make an appointment.
Surprised no word from Toyota themselves.
Thank you again.

I had my Fuel Pump done today. Took my RCI skid off for them, I asked them to look at my KDSS bushings, the clamps had come off , wanted to here what they had to say. This is what they wrote " Recommend replacing both front inner sway bar bushings ,note sway bar bushings not covered under warrenty due to aftermarket Lift Kit. $ 1197 parts,$ 266 labour each side. WTF . now I know why they call it Steeler Ship. He tells me they dont have replacement Bushing , so they replace the whole thing , ya over $ 2900 bucks. So I said that is very odd since you parts guy just sold me replacement Bushing just a couple months ago, I paid $ 39 for each. Well I guess iI got what I wanted, Ill be replacing them soon. I hope there is no more recalls so I never have to go back agian. Also for you guys on the fence about getting this recall done , asked how many Fuel Pump failures there seeing , he said not even one yet.

Fuel pump recall done today along with "required maintenance". In and out in just a little over 2 hours. I haven't had a chance to inspect the skids yet!

Dropped mine at the dealer. He said a few things.
1) They have done a couple hundred and seen no problems.
2) The failures tend to occur in hot areas - Arizona, Nevada, etc. (I live in Seattle so 75 is a warm day here.)
They also gave me a Lyft to and from dealer that is super convenient.

About a month ago I took my T4R in for an Inspection and an oil change and was told my vehicle was on the recall list. The person checking me in asked me if I wanted to be put on the list for the pump change and of course I said yes. She told me that I will be notified when the part comes in and I can make an appointment for the fuel pump change.Welll I havent heard a thing about it yet. I dont think Toyo has redesigned or has a fix yet.

Call them and make an appointment... Or find another dealer.

The fuel pump has been redesigned and they do have a fix. This thread is loaded with owners who have had the old pump replaced. Toyota is managing parts availability. Be proactive with your dealer in pursuing an appointment. If they are unresponsive, go to another dealer.
