I personally am a big fan of his. This is partially correct: he is an amateur in overlanding only, but his love and authenticity in learning about the 4Runner was real. So was love of the outdoors. He did a lot of the work on his truck himself, and when he could not, had it filmed by the guys doing it....and always giving huge props to the shops and manufacturers. Respect where it was due.
But he is NOT an amateur in video creativity and editing - in fact i have yet to find a better, more engaging content creator that make trips out camping/offroading (or even just plain installing stuff on his truck) fun and interesting to watch. LLOD channel is another one at this level. Jason's interactions with his family and friends are also genuine. SO that said Ive watched a bunch of his stuff, and I would consider myself a tough sell for youtube attention. Admittedly, this particular video as linked above does not do him justice compared to his earlier stuff.
To each thier own, but i am a Jason K - fan, but yeah sorry to see him trade in the 4Runner for that beast of a truck, but he gives the reasons in a few of the videos.

I’ve been watching his YouTube channel for awhile now. He owns several vehicles including a 200 series that his wife drives.
I wonder if he’ll keep the Turtleback trailer now that he has the RAM?

No one is trashing on the guy, what you see here is a by product of niche marketing culture. If you don't know what channels an "influencer" is on (geezus I hate that term, hence the barf smiley in my last post), you just don't know who most of these people are and what credit they actually have.

Oh I know exactly how it works, I worked in the ski industry in the late 80's and all through the 90's. The ski industry (and others) have used and still use this model, well before the masses were exposed to it.

I have no issues overall with the guy. Only quibble is he seems to go way overboard with modding and gear. But he's brilliant at what he does. His vlogs and social media creates this impulse to want all these unnecessary things.

I have respect for anyone who can find success on YouTube… Doing it right and growing a channel is hard work and far more complex than most people think. It really is no different than trying to run a small business.

I like his videos. I appreciate the honesty that comes across when he approaches things he doesn't know much about. I'll still watch them, but I'm less enthused without his T4R.

;-They are trashing him and they have the right to do so, it's their opinion. Just don't say there are not. I've never said he had ton of off cred and I never said I know him. What I am saying is that the guy is harmless and humble and doesn't pretend to be something he is not. Don't you find that refreshing? I am not a die hard fan of his. I just watch some of his stuff for entertainment, nothing more.

Meh. Once I caught on to the fact that he'd need 4 camera angles, a soundtrack, circling drone shots and a 10 minute preamble to pump gas... I didn't have any more time for him.

Lol the guy may have started off as a enthusiast but by the end, he was a straight up infomercial.
Good riddence

Well one is not they (EDIT: at the time of posting ). I saw one outrightly neg post. Everyone else simply "wondered" who this guy is, sarcastically, sure.
I don't mind him a bit, he is a nice fellow. He is using what is available to get him where he wants to be, good for him, I just don't really groove on the whole influencer method.
My know-&-credit remark was about influencers in general, not necessarily directed at anything you said, I should created a better separation.

He seems like a nice enough guy, but not my cup of tea at all.
He really does not know much and takes way too long to get to the point.
I trip off people who are all in on something and have a following then do a 180 and go off in another direction.

He sold it months ago.
