That makes sense. I bought all of my VWs used so that could've been done by previous owners.

1. After remote starting, why the hell does the 4R turn off when you unlock the doors?? Please tell me there is an actual reason.
2. And equally annoying is why can you unlock all four doors when opening the passenger side door, but not when opening the drivers??
Are there any ways to override the 2nd complaint??

I wish you could sort of double-tap the handle to unlock all the doors. Like if you grab the driver's door handle once and pull, it only unlocks the driver's door. But if you grab it and let go and grab it again or kinda tap it twice, it unlocks the driver's door and then the rest.
I understand why it's a safety feature though. The bigger gripe I have is them not putting a sensor in the handle of all 4 doors. On my Mercedes, you can grab any of the 4 door handles and they open and you can lock the car by touching any of the 4 handles. No idea why Toyota decided against that. I wouldn't have cost that more to include it.

You can configure it to open all doors at once and the instructions are earlier in this same thread.

Agreed. It's annoying to have to grab the front door handle to unlock the doors just to put something in the back seat.

IDK if it's already been mentioned, but the screen resolution is terrible.

Have you found it to be? I’ve actually been quite pleased with the screen in mine so far. It’s easy to read and navigate, isn’t too bright at night, and doesn’t polarize under polarized glasses. I’ve never noticed he resolution being an issue

Back then, dealers were far more willing to make changes as well.
The problem is that we have to legislate to the dumbest amongst us. Some owner rolls up his beat up old car with a broken pinch protection and squishes his kid because he closed the windows from so far away (or around a corner) that he couldn't see what he was doing and we have a new regulation.

If you are referring to the backup camera, you're absolutely right. My 2009 Audi had a much better backup camera than my 2020. Pretty pathetic.

Yeah, I just came from a '20 Wrangler Rubicon with the 8.4 UConnect and it was a fantastic display, great resolution. Kind of like watching HDTV when the backup cam was on. Even the display above the steering column was hi-def and had many programmable features.
The Rubicon had: - Remote start - both with the key and app
- 8.4 UConnect with all kinds of apps and Off-Road Pages
- Alpine sound system
- Real leather seats
- Automatic seat heaters, heated steering wheel, climate control based on outside temp
- Very easy to use infotainment, easy to navigate, beautiful album art, etc.
Again, the only thing I miss about the Rubicon was the modern tech, maybe a bit of the look-at-me factor, and the wonderful 8sp AT. Though I do like the ORP better overall, I feel like I stepped back about 10 yrs in technology. Toyota should realize they need to do better in this area.
