This will help a lot for KDSS/ sway bar effectiveness for on-road driving. If you find that there’s a slip on yours, after restoration, you can feel more stiff and less roll during cornering.

Yes that was one of my concerns. I did notice that when I installed on another buddies truck. He did one side and didn’t put it on correctly and it actually tore. Luckily we have had 2 back ups.

For me the front kdss piston didn’t move down! It’s in the same exact location . Maximize your KDSS + extended travel shocksThe sway bar just pivoted down( I have 2” inches of lift height). Im working on a piece to get the sway bar arms to the same angle as stock height.

Took some photos for max/min length of KDSS link 10mins ago for reference. This hasn’t reach the maximum articulation yet.

Yes, the piston position of the front KDSS link won’t move that much, but the sway bar arm angle will be changed. Since the sway bar joints with the front axle lower arm with a bracket, instead of an ankle, change in sway bar arm angle will make the joint angle bad, and may introduce unnecessary worn for the bushing. Adding a pad will restore the angle, which helps the issue.

I just got the new Dirt King LCAs with the pivoting KDSS bracket. They're supposed to alleviate the strain on the bushing by keeping the proper angle that the bar inserts into the bushing.

This new pad looks to be a cheaper way to solve that problem, although I am enjoying the ride of the new LCAs.

This idea has been out there for quite a while. I think it's been built before as well. Let me find some old posts.

Here's an old drawing from ~2016.

http://www.tophersworld.com/imagesa/kddslift1.jpg

So I think that ship sailed a while ago.

But it's cool that someone is trying it. I have a problem with bending my rear link already (the fixed side looks like a banana) so dropping it another inch or two would make it more of a problem in the rocks. The front would be a problem with skid plate interference. And the front would be easier to put a spacer plate on the KDSS mount on the control arm to raise that point an inch or so.

Good luck with the product though! I think it could help a lot for a lot of folks.

So do you know who built them? Or did the idea just stop ? I seen one guy in here who did it for himself.

I search like no other. Guess I didn’t dig deep enough. But before even searching I came up with this in my head and like I always do , I don’t hesitate to make things happen.

If this was out already I totally would have just bought it instead of making it.

Dom, where are you located? It will be nice to find a solid solution for the passenger side lean.

Really need a video of the suspension cycling to see the pivoting bracket in action.

I’m in SoCal. Norco Corona area.

This spacer isn’t to correct the lean. It’s for maximum droop for with kdss 4Runner.

Not saying it can’t or that I don’t have an idea about how to fix it using this method but there’s better ways to do it. I personally wouldn’t rely fixing other with this sway bar drop.

I don't know who did this first. I remember seeing the idea come up multiple times in the 5 or so year's I've been paying attention. Generally the same solution has come up most times. It's easy to make and the obvious solution as an alternative to relocating the piston mount on the frame side or moving the brackets on the lower control arms up front and the rear axle. I think you might be the first to actually sell them commercially if you do sell them.

The general reason that they were not pursued was that the travel range of the suspension in the front isn't changing with a lift and the OEM system can cycle through the entire range of travel already. So lowering the sway bar to a different static position probably doesn't actually do much good and ends up causing interference with skid plates.

The rear does appear to help quite a bit with clearance of the track bar. I think most people chose to relocate the track bar bracket an inch or two higher as an alternative because it also fixes the geometry problem with an unlevel track bar. I do think this solution works great in the rear for a situation where you want a bolt on solution that's easy to reverse and you're not going rock crawling where you'll be dragging the rear sway bar on the rocks. That probably encompasses most lifted 4Runners. I suspect a fair amount of folks would probably use them.
