My local dealer never came through in 16 weeks, so, I just got one from Fowler Toyota in Oklahoma and am waiting for delivery. Paid list plus $1500 to ship it to me.

EDIT- No problems with the deal whatsoever. Received the vehicle on 29 May.

The dealer will laugh all the way to the bank if you pay more than sticker. Also those addendum stickers on the side of the manufacturer sticker should really be a white collar crime. They won't lose one wink when they bend you over for that extra $5000.

I just priced one out online it was almost $51,000. So the maximum that I would pay would be $48,000 before taxes. I would probably negotiate the price as a maximum of $50,000 out the door.

The most I have ever paid for any vehicle is $32,000 before taxes. I don't think I'll ever pay more than that so I guess a TRD pro is simply out of my price range.

Don't blame you for that, in your situation I'd have considered flying down and having a great road trip from OK for that amount of $$.

I am actually thinking about doing the exact some thing as well. I have been looking around here in California and Prices have been between pre-tax $58k to $65k for a TRDP AG. So OTD would be $63k to $70k is ridiculous.

I offered them $63k but luckily for me the dealership refused to give it to me at that price! LOL

If you dont mind me asking, was the process hard to complete working with an out of state dealership? and how much did you pay OTD?

Thank you in advance.

$63k for a 4Runner? That’s absurd, but I suppose I’m not surprised with it being California. If I was spending that much it will be for a Land Cruiser. I have bought out of state and it was very easy. The dealership wants to sell you a vehicle, especially now, and will make it easy for you. It’s worth it to get a vehicle for a realistic price.

The process was pretty easy but involved a lot of trust. After I agreed to a refundable $500 good faith deposit, they took me seriously and sent out a mobile notary to my workplace to complete the contract. After I signed the papers and agreed to the deal it was up to me to send a check for $53K less $500. I sent a personal check so they wanted it to clear which was fine with me. After the check cleared, the 4 Runner was delivered in 3 days.

The hardest part was getting license and registration here in CA. All DMVs were closed at the time, due to Covid, so I just had to wait. I paid $100 for a vin verification service and $75 for a smog check and it was finally registered in a month after DMV reopened. Almost forgot about the $4800 in sales tax paid to DMV too.

I just purchased a Venture edition in magnetic grey. Sticker was 46k and I walked out the door after all fees and taxes etc. for 46K. I'm in NJ and there are very slim pickings here right now. I had to go to North Carolina to find what I was looking for but it was worth the trip. Dealer markups are robbery and I'd never pay past msrp

Thats actually pretty good. I would definitely have anxiety to send a check like that over. With all fees and etc.. Im guessing you spent less than $59k with the transportation to California.

I didn’t read every response but want to make a comment. My wife loves the AG. I, don’t. I don’t believe it’ll age as well as imperial jade. It looks good, it’s a “pro” color, but it just doesn’t do it for me.

My local dealer has only had a couple and they seem to have sat from what I’ve seen. Maybe that’s part of the local economy but for me, I wouldn’t pay any more for an AG than I would for any other color pro.

Colorado markup

I contacted a few dealerships about the Army Green 4Runner and they all have a 5k markup because they are "limited in production".

Is it this commonplace to pay over msrp? I'm curious if this is just because 2021 orders are already in and they won't be manufacturing any more Army Greens. I love the color but not 5k more.. Not to mention 2021 has LED headlights lol..

Guess Lunar Rock it is for me.

We just bought an AG TRD Pro here in Denver. Autonation wanted 10k over MSRP, but all were already sold. Stevenson Toyota had no premium over MSRP but all were sold and they couldn't get any more in. Ended up at Groove Toyota and paid MSRP+5kPremium. Had to wait 3 weeks, but it came in yesterday.

Couldn't find anything that wasn't already on hold for someone within 500 miles or so.

Stevenson said I could order a 2021 Lunar Rock, but they said it would be several months out still.
